An interior architecture and design practice based in Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth. We design forward-thinking spaces worldwide.

Foolscap brings new life to the outdoor courtyard at Allpress Espresso’s Collingwood roastery, introducing locally made and designed chairs and custom twin-pole tables by @madebytait — working with existing furniture, giving pre-existing stools and timber benches a refresh to maintain durability.

Melbourne Design Week 2026
Design as a force for wellbeing, culture, and connection — these are the conversations shaping this year's program, and ones we've long been exploring in practice.
Studio Director Cassie Collins joins the Wellness in Design panel to discuss how considered interiors shape wellbeing and human connection.
Founder Adèle Winteridge speaks on the future of hospitality-led workplaces and design's capacity for broader social and cultural impact.
We're also collaborating with @songforthemute on The Soufflé — a one-off reimagining of Adèle's modular sofa design, available via silent auction as part of an evening celebrating experimentation and craft.

Foolscap and @alpha60thelabel have combined forces on a stool exploring duality, partnership, and the intersection of creative disciplines. Conceived as a celebration of yin and yang, the piece brings together Alpha60's deep knowledge of textiles, binding and corsetry techniques with Foolscap's expertise in interior design.
A sculptural cube wrapped in cloud-like quilted upholstery, finished with an aluminium tubular backrest and acid-green lacing threaded through metal eyelets along the sides — a corsetry detail that pulls the soft form inward.
A study in restraint and exaggeration, softness and structure, fashion and furniture.
Displayed at the 100 Chairs exhibition for Melbourne Design Week, from the 14th to 24th of May.
South Magdalen Laundry, @abbotsfordconvent — 1 St Heliers Street, Abbotsford VIC.

Foolscap & Song for the Mute are thrilled to announce a collaboration for Melbourne Design Week.
Together, we are hosting an exhibition and auction at Foolscap Studio: “The Soufflé Reimagined” — Edition 1
For this special project, Song For The Mute reimagines The Soufflé — a modular sofa designed by Adele Winteridge (2018) and produced by Grazia & Co. The result is a one-off, custom piece that blurs the line between fashion and furniture, available via silent auction on the night.
A celebration of experimentation, materiality, and considered design.
All are welcome to attend, please RSVP to hello@foolscap.com.au by Wednesday 13 May.

“Inspired by Alphaville (1965), the space takes on a cinematic quality— where light and shadow move across textured surfaces and modernist forms.
A dialogue between soft and hard, tactile and refined, unfolds throughout.”
— Ellen Rosengren-Johnson, Sydney Studio Director of Foolscap.

Proud to share that Foolscap's founder, Adèle Winteridge, has been featured in the @financialreview .
In this interview, Adèle speaks about Foolscap’s approach to reimagining retail — creating spaces that go beyond function to become immersive, story-led experiences. It’s a perspective that continues to shape how we think about design, brand and the role of physical environments today.
Grateful to see this work and philosophy highlighted by the AFR.

Alpha60 has opened its Sydney flagship in the heart of Darlinghurst – a considered and cinematic space designed by Foolscap.
Collaborating closely with the sibling founders to create a store that balances heritage sensitivity with playful expression.
The brief called for a flexible, future-focused space that could adapt to evolving collections while reflecting the brand’s artistic sensibility.
Occupying a 230m² heritage tenancy, the design introduces a sustainably engineered timber framework as a “second skin” that defines circulation, display, and merchandising—conceived not only for adaptability, but to reduce waste associated with retail de-fit over time.

For Song for the Mute’s second permanent space, Foolscap co-created a rich concept that brings this narrative to life.
Throughout the design process, colour was used not decoratively but architecturally, shaping experience, guiding movement and evoking a subtle sense of travelling through time, connecting Modernist influence with contemporary retail storytelling.

Transforming ideas into spaces — one step at a time.
The @cultivated_au x @mark_tuckey 's circular retail space was built in four days and dismantled without landfill contribution.
Every component was selected, detailed, and installed for complete disassembly and return to optimal reuse.
No adhesives, no destructive fixings, and no material waste, therefore challenging the norm of wasteful temporary fitouts.
