The Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival and the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles @indianfilmfestival invite you to a free screening at 2 PM Saturday, May 9 at the UCLA James Bridges Theater @jamesbridgestheater of the poignant and beautifully shot Indian short film Avni, @storyofavni the story of a young Indian girl who, denied her right to an education, takes matters into her own hands.
The screening will include the presentation of the annual Daniel Koops Outstanding Film Score award, recognizing an outstanding music score from this year‘s festival films. The award carries the name of one of our most talented and prolific composers, who died in 2022 at age 18.
This year’s honoree is Avni composer Kisaloy Roy. @kisaloyroymusic The wonderful film is directed by Tej Sisodia. @tej_sisodia Selection of the winner was done by three professional musicians: veteran film composer Bill Connor; Emmy award-winning composer David Bertok @davidbertokmusic ; and Daniel’s father, Alexander Koops, orchestra director at Calvin University.
Accepting the award will be Los Angeles based Indian filmmaker and actor Vibha Kulkarni. @iveeba Presenting the award will be filmmaker Dana Koops @danakoops , Daniel’s sister. @shaelyn_koops @xanman71

In this workshop, we brought in Intimacy Coordinators as many directors & actors have yet to work with one or even if they have, still are unclear about their responsibilities. We had our IC’s break down what their job really entails and all the ways they are there for the production, not just the actors.

While we shot intimate scenes with the safety of IC’s on set,we all learned so much from them! They brought a world of understanding to safety and comfortability on set during intimate interactions and that’s the core of what this workshop focused on. 🙌🏼
