Obsessed with making cosy lampshades… 💡☂️
1. Self drafted overlay non permanent shade with drawstring tie to reduce amount of light coming out the top. Made using an offcut fabric from @clothshoplondon
2. @merchantandmills pomegranate pattern and frame, made with cotton seersucker from @sewmesunshine.uk with little mimosa patterns, our wedding flower so a cute fit for our main bedroom ☺️
3. An attempt making a semi pleated lil shade with a gathered frill, more permanent, fixed with glue gun! Mounted on our @mgandco sun 🌞 sconces. Made by reusing @pigletinbed pillowcases!
4. An attempt at self drafting a knitting shade, with lil stripe, but too chunky and dark so might try and remake it with a different fuzzy or mohair yarn for a more delicate shade

Finally finished knitting my mohair jumper from @woolandthegang and only took about 2 years 🫠 (still need to block it)
Going to keep trying to knit 🧶 but I miss sewing - it’s on hold while we’re in limbo waiting to move!
Started my next knitting project… let’s see if I can finish it before the end of 2026 this time 😅
Happy NY!

Made a house coat for Leo too 😊🥹
I altered the @merchantandmills Sanda pattern (I used the same to make mine) and made it longer and arms wider for Leo. Inspired by our trip to Japan I added ties for the fastenings in a kimono 👘 style.
Also a sneak peek at my new handmade stamp labels, and an added loop for easy hanging
Fabric used was from a quilt bought at H&M, the remaining fabric was used to make a nice big cat bed too 😊

When you realise your whole outfit is self made. 🎉
🧥 Jacket: Sandra jacket from @merchantandmills made using cotton quilt blanket from H&M. Added just 1 top button
🔝 Vest: Racer Vest pattern from @modern_sewing_co with organic cotton jersey fabrics from @heysewgeorgie
👖Trousers: the Mawr Pants, I added the drawstring for these and pattern by @allotmentclothing I think the calico/ canvas fabric for this is actually from Amazon, previously bought for a draft but now get a whole life out of them and may experiment with printing on these later.

🏆 Finishing off my @britishsewingbee #SewAlong I’ve made the @kianabonollo bias cut skirt inspired by the bias cut dress from the pattern challenge in the finale. Made in black sandwash satin from @sewmesunshine.uk
😵💫 Bias cut anything and satin are both my least favourite things to do and use but we got there 😅

🛟 Catching up with my @britishsewingbee #SewAlong for my 1920s week project and inspired by @ypkmakes #madetomeasure sailor dress - I made the @madswick_studio Rosamund Blouse with sailor collar in some white linen I bought whilst we were in Japan! 🤍
🐚 Such a fun make and I got to try new things on top of the sailor collar including the loop button holes, cuffed puff sleeves and I even got to use the decorative stitches on my machine!

🎥 Although @britishsewingbee is over for this season I’m still catching up with my #sewalong and inspired by Movie week I finally made my most special, most wanted and maybe best most validating thing l’ve made yet.
💜 This is such a big piece because I remember watching the tragic film Lovelace whilst in uni (about 10 years ago **) and being in awe of the styling. In one of the scenes Linda wears plum velvet wide leg loose dungarees and I remember trying to find some and couldn’t anywhere and I thought l’d like to to pick up sewing again one day and try and make them.
Fast forward to today and l’ve got and done it, and I’m so chuffed with them a maybe the proudest and most validated I’ve felt in my sewing journey.
🧵I used super soft tencel cotton twill in colour fig from @heysewsister.co.uk and the @merchantandmills dungaree pattern The Harlene, I altered the leg width by combining it with @swimstylepatterns Tamamara trouser pattern.
Even updated my bolster cushion with the left overs 😊
Think I might start saying l’m an intermediate sewer now 🥹🫶
