On Friday, May 15th, Martha Redbone (@martharedbone) comes to Weeksville for a special spring concert!

Join us from 6-9 pm as Martha and her ensemble invite us to listen and sing along, honoring Black and Indigenous shared histories through song. Inspired by Weeksville’s “Freedman’s Torchlight (1866),” Martha will debut two new songs created from the archive, reflecting on the legacy of one of the nation’s earliest free Black communities.

Spring is in the air! Family Day at Carnegie Hall was great fun. Charlie Burnham (violin), Aaron Whitby (piano) and I spent the whole day with many musician friends and took over the Resnick Education Wing with music and arts and crafts. I was so caught up in the moment that I barely took a pic, this was the only one- after that phones were a distraction to the medicine being given in the room. I love these beautiful talented vocalists and friends forEVAH- my words are an understatement to what we all witnessed and heard. The band… and the audience of greats filled the room. Yes on this Holiday weekend, counting blessings to have wonderful spaces to celebrate music and each other. Thankful and thoughtful. Yes, music will heal this world 🎶💜🎶
