Here is the first post of the year and the last thing we'll be sharing about our process on Hexagoon.

So to celebrate 2025, let's have a look at some backgrounds layouts & Matte paintings!

Castles really are an extension of our characters in HEXAGOON so we really needed to hit the right spot in these paintings. But they also did a lot to bring a sense of scale and raise the stakes of this epic clash.

We've noticed that it is a rare thing for a studio to share the first drafts of character designs. Not sure why. Maybe there is a risk some people might feel like you didn't go for the best option ? 

We're taking that risk today anyway. We wanted for you to see where our minds wandered. It is always good to try and go in a lot of directions early on. Even though, while drawing it, you already know this isn't the right one. Just get the thing out of your head.

Muirgen felt like a natural pick. Elric was a tougher one at the moment. But looking back, we are pretty happy with the choices we made for both our shining stars ✨️

It's okay if you think we are freaking blind though. We can take it, haha 🤣

This is a special day for Ninoc.
Today is our first time sharing with the world a film entirely made in-house, from first concept to final image! 🎉🎉
Basically everything except the music & sound design, which was handled with love by our dear friends from @who.are.the.rabbits
So feast your eyes on the trailer for "HEXAGOON" co-directed by @simonandriveau & @romainbarriaux and tell us if you are "Team Elric" or "Team Muirgen"!!👑
We are extremely grateful to our client for letting us share with you the trailer of their unreleased game. This opportunity is rare enough to be stated out loud.
Unfortunately, these days 2D animation is often associated with very codified graphic styles and/or cheaper budgets. "Premium" projects almost exclusively being made in 3D. Not that we have anything against 3D (we might actually have something cooking...)!
Simply put, we had fun trying to explore what 2D animation can offer. We know we've only scratched the surface, though! We have so many ideas in mind to play with!
Of course, this would have never been possible without our incredible team. So a HUGE thank you to all of the people who worked on this project ❤️
