SHFTD & Strange Brew presents
Jarboe feat. Thor Harris & Joy Von Spain
Dawn Terry
Sade Arellano
Jarboe feat. Thor Harris & Joy Von Spain
Influential avant-garde artist Jarboe, and former member of the legendary Swans, will embark on a UK and European tour in May 2026, presenting a truly unique and powerful collaboration alongside multi-instrumentalist Thor Harris (ex-Swans, Xiu Xiu, Shearwater) and vocalist/composer Joy Von Spain (Eye of Nix). Jarboe’s live set, an immersive experience forged across decades of boundary-pushing music, will draw from her deep catalogue of industrial, experimental and atmospheric works. The trio will also debut two ambient pieces from her forthcoming album, “Sightings”. The performance is a unique union of ritual, sound and raw emotion, showcasing three distinct voices from the experimental underground working in transformative harmony.
Dawn Terry
From the days of Bong to a host of collaborations; Dawn Terry is a mainstay of the UK underground. She plays slow, melancholic music for sad people. Based in Newcastle, she is a veteran drone artist producing work that is heavy, dreamlike and hypnotic. Her performances unfold patiently, building immersive walls of tone and texture that feel both intimate and overwhelming.
Sade Arellano
Rooted in oral tradition and a DIY communal spirit, Sade’s music draws from English, Scottish, and Irish folk, medieval ballads, Yiddish klezmer, and Appalachian songs. Their raw, intimate sound built on drone chords, simple melodies, and story-driven spell-casting forms a living, breathing folk practice.
Tuesday, 19th May – 7pm till 10:30pm
SEATED SHOW – over a ⅓ of tickets for this have already sold, this will sell out. Final tickets available on Headfirst & Dice.

Meet Frank.
a Frank Silva track finally seeing some light and is out now via @northfield.records — joined with a side-A of BS5 Gilbert Road attendees, Grandma Love & Holsten, then with side-B left entirely to F. Silva
Words from @rwdfwd HQ: (read full write-up on the www)
———‘Swerving across your headtop to round things off, the final cut of the disc retains a subtle dose of the dread that runs through each of the previous tracks on this release, but provides a rewarding amount of elation in the shape of a fully meditative 15+ min sound excursion. A satisfyingly minimalistic tangle of an undulating guitar hook and shimmering feedback drone, this one is produced by SHFTD’s Observer, here as Frank Silva.’
Checka the whole release, buy the record. Thanks for stopping by and to Max for putting out the music — more Frank in 2026.

Things resume, but not quite as you remember them. Natural Causes returns for a second pass, warped slightly off-axis from the February show, this time more slow-burning disorientation, surrealistic ambience within A* droning experimentalism. Unmissable debut performances on the Brew floor once again ….
Saturday 2nd May 2026, 7 until 10pm at Strange Brew. @strange_brew_briz
Miradasvacas (Madrid) | @miron.pablo @vacasj
Pablo Mirón and Juan Vacas, of Miradasvacas, make sparse, tactile music between recording and performance, where material shifts in and out of focus. Field recordings, found sound, harmonica, violin, guitar and tape loops are shaped in real time using radios, reel-to-reel machines, turntables, cassette players and acoustic instrumentation. Recordings are made in real time and reused rather than treated as finished tracks. Two albums out on 12th Isle & South of North, also known for across Real No Real and Ediciones Fontenebro.
Nakul Krishnamurthy (India) | @nakulkrishnamurthy
Working between Indian classical traditions, Western classical frameworks and experimental composition, Nakul Krishnamurthy reworks structure rather than preserving it. Drawing across Carnatic, Hindustani, Western classical and experimental music, he builds systems where forms overlap and rotate. Album just released on The Death of Rave, with earlier work on Cafe Oto’s Takuroku.
Dali de Saint Paul & Memotone (Bristol) | @dalidesaintpaul @will_memotone
Two Bristol mainstays doing something together for the first time. Dali de Saint Paul works with voice across improvisation, noise and ensemble settings, always moving context. Memotone moves through ambient jazz and soundtrack-influenced work, never fixed in one category. A pairing not one expected. Releases across The Trilogy Tapes, Accidental Meetings, World of Echo etc.
Girl Downstairs (dj - Amsterdam) | @giulinicolai
Amsterdam-based Italian deejay, first UK show. Hazy dub, noisy electronics, odd-pop and lo-fi industrial-tinged ambient. Intro and filling gaps, pressing play at 7pm.
Arrive for doors. Early tickets are cheap, + group deals available… on sale via Headfirst 🫗 poster by @goldi.lux_

Lineup update for this Saturday @spanners.club
Due to airspace closures in Jordan amid the current escalation and instability in the region, Mayss is unfortunately no longer able to travel to London for Saturday’s event.
Our thoughts are with Mayss and the many others currently facing ongoing and unjust violence and displacement. While it’s incredibly sad that these circumstances have made her appearance impossible, I wish her and her family safety, and hope to welcome her at a future edition.
Slides 2-3 are images witnessed and captured by Mayss in the last days. Sending love and peace @mayss_88 ❤️
Nkisi will join the lineup on Saturday and we’re really glad to have her with us. Looking forward to it. @nkisiii
Thank you for understanding and see you at Spanners.

Incoming V-Day spectacle …
Natural Causes cracks open with three first-time visitors to Bristol, each arriving from a different corner of the map and refusing to behave. This is a night of friction and flavour, where nothing quite lines up but everything hits.
Soborgnost slides in first, looping lo-fi EBM, dance and disco into something stubborn, hypnotic and faintly feral. Belgium’s Daisy Ray follows, serving playful pop-dub riddled with industrial grit, warped hooks and machine hiccups. To finish, wildly experimental ten-piece Export Import tip the whole thing over, spilling ritualistic meltdown jazz, clattering percussion and horn-driven chaos across the room.
Flip the slides. Tune your ears .... Arrive for doors! Music starts immediately. Noise without warning. No easing in. Tickets are cheap, loved-up duo deals are lurking. Proceed accordingly.
Saturday, 14th February – 7pm–10pm (Valentine’s Day) at @strange_brew_briz
Export Import @export.import.real
Daisy Ray @daisy.ray.4u

Natural Causes begins. Round one brings batsh*t Valentine’s Day havoc for nonconformists, miscreants, mutant lovers, and the happily unclassifiable. No roses, no slow dances, just romance done wrong (... right). Three essential Bristol debut shows surfaced at once on the Strange Brew central floor, each pulling in a different direction, impossible to neglect.

(2. Daisy Ray @daisy.ray.4u

Saturday 14th February 2026, 7 until 10pm at Strange Brew. @strange_brew_briz
(1. 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 are 10+ Londoners smashing jagged percussion, sputtering electronics, and restless horns into something improvised and brittle. Their music moves through noise, free jazz, experimental rock, ritual sound, industrial, and post-punk rhythms, folding and jerking unpredictably. Their shows feel like music colliding with a ritual. No hooks, no polish, just sharp edges that linger long after you leave.
(2. 𝘿𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙮 𝙍𝙖𝙮 is a Belgian producer twisting synths, drum machines, and warped electronics into jagged, restless grooves. Her music moves through experimental electronic, dub, art-punk, lo-fi, glitch, and industrial-tinged textures. Tracks feel improvised and on the verge of unravelling, with sounds that clash and ripple in ways that stick.
(3. 𝙎𝙤𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙣𝙤𝙨𝙩 is a London-based hardware tangle twisting sci-fi dance punk, vaporwave, minimal wave, disco dub, industrial, proto-house, drone, and noise into relentless loops. Samplers, warped analogue textures, cassette tape manipulation, and harsh noise collide over chuggy beats and post-punk basslines. Rhythmic, playful, and rough-hewn, like dub mixed with a malfunctioning analogue future.
Arrive for doors (7pm). Music starts immediately. No easing in. No one turned away for lack of funds, message me and we can sort something. Early tier tickets are super cheap. 𝙊𝙣 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙫𝙞𝙖 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩.

Natural Causes begins. Round one brings batsh*t Valentine’s Day havoc for nonconformists, miscreants, mutant lovers, and the happily unclassifiable. No roses, no slow dances, just romance done wrong (... right). Three essential Bristol debut shows surfaced at once on the Strange Brew central floor, each pulling in a different direction, impossible to neglect.

uploaded a nearly 7hr set from @8mmbar in Berlin back in September, whole thing on SoundCloud but I’ve scattered (too many) clips at random here to sneak-peek at. so much love always to the amazing @maraxrina & @m_emilia.dollfin for the invite and the unholy amount of beverages. very fun night, dive bar selections only (mostly).
