This Memorial Day we honor the men and women who gave everything for our country. I was grateful to join @with_honoraction and @forcountrycaucus in washing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and reflecting on the 58,318 names etched into the wall.

For months, @repdonbacon and @repbrianfitz have worked together to hold Russia accountable through tough sanctions that cripple its ability to continue waging war on Ukraine.

Today, that effort gained enough support to force a vote in the U.S. House.

On Military Spouses Day, I thank my wife Angie, who stuck with me through 16 assignments and 4 deployments to the Middle East. To all military spouses, you are truly the backbone of our armed services. Serving in the military can be hard and I was able to do it with Angie’s love.

During WWII, it took an aerial armada to take out a single target. During the Vietnam War, it took 4 planes. Today, one plane can take out over 20 targets. As the pace of warfare accelerates, our defense industrial base has to accelerate with it, and conflicts in Ukraine and Iran have laid bare areas where we still need to catch up.

@repdonbacon, a nearly 30-year veteran and Founding Co-Chair of @forcountrycaucus, is focused on modernizing the force for the battles ahead.

GPS jamming has become a common occurrence in every recent conflict — from Ukraine to Iran. As chairman of the House Armed Services Committee subcommittee responsible for emerging technologies, Rep. Bacon is pushing to ensure our space assets are properly postured and our troops have what they need, when they need it.

Our office has worked for three years to fix the housing allowance, which underpays servicemembers living off base. Congress allocated $2.9 billion to address this, and we expect the Pentagon to get it done.

Putin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine is not only an attack on a country that seeks democracy, free markets, and alignment with the West, but also includes a deliberate campaign to suppress and persecute religious communities. The Countering Russia’s War on Faith Act will ensure we fully document these abuses and hold those responsible accountable through sanctions.

The Dignity Act is a smart, balanced approach to fixing our broken immigration system. I hear from employers across Omaha that they can’t find enough workers. This bipartisan bill addresses that need while enforcing the law and holding people accountable. It is not amnesty.
