A photo zine shot collaboratively in Budapest, Hungary by @ryanmolnar and @balazsfromm
This work is a visual back-and-forth — investigating contemporary Budapest through our alternating perspectives: Balazs as a local, and Ryan as an outsider with Hungarian family roots. The project oscillates between youth, architecture, and personal identity to capture a city in flux and a new generation shaping its own sense of individuality and optimism.
Excerpt from text in the zine by Andrea Servert:
“These images are pictures of present existence. Imperfect and radiant. Youth is understood not only as a chronological stage – although the markers of puberty are a guide throughout the sequence – but as a stream of change. A pepper can be as youthful as a teenager. Energy, like water, is in incessant motion. Cheerfully eroding the retaining walls. Every element here concocts a renewed definition of the city. Every portrait catches a glimpse of what those definitions might entail. They’re contradictory and ever-changing, and beautiful in their impermanence. We can’t grasp them all entirely, but we see what they say: I am just like you, very unusual.“
