Scene + Heard: Edition X
Graphic Design for The Festival of New Work at @smockalleytheatre
For our 10th Edition programme, I had the idea to feed the previous designs from the past 9 years into the mind of the wonderful @_gavinobrien_ and see what we came out with.
After all, the festival is all about testing work and trying new ideas - so why shouldn’t the festival design echo this ethos?
Festival directors Caoimhe + Cliona (@cackle_mgmt) ran with the concept and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
Gavin’s collage becomes a key part of the overall design; an exquisite corpse of the previous 9 editions, bringing elements together to form something new. It makes its way onto, and informs the design of, the posters, beermats, banners, profilers, wristbands, and all the paraphernalia that surrounds the festival and its 100+ shows of new work.
Thanks to Grehan Printers for working with the mirrored cover for this commemorative edition. It’s nice, upon reflection.
More than the sum of its parts, the festival runs until Feb 28th. Come together.
