We are excited to share that The Cedar Commissions application window will officially open on Friday, June 5th, 2026, at 12 PM!

The Cedar Commissions is our flagship program for local emerging artists made possible with a grant from the Jerome Foundation. Since the program began in 2011, the Commissions have showcased new work by over 90 Minnesotan emerging composers and musicians, including Dessa, Aby Wolf, Theo Langason, Maria Isa, Carlisle Evans Peck, Sarah Larsson, Dameun Strange, Vie Boheme, and many more.

Fabiano do Nascimento is a Brazilian-American guitarist, composer, producer and arranger, currently based in Los Angeles and Tokyo. Fabiano performs on various multi-string and multi-tuning (nylon string) guitars. A contemporary artist who is deeply rooted in Brazilian heritage and is known for his unique sound and compositions that is ever-expansive, borrowing from the traditions of Afro-Samba, Folkloric and Choro while blending elements of Jazz, experimental & electronica.

While working on the @aloneamusic album, me and Alana did a bunch of experimental improvs and decided it might be cool to do a duo project of some kind. And what better place to debut it than my favorite local experimental showcase @noiseparty_mpls at @thecedar. It’s called BIZLANG and here are the deets/info - the entire lineup for Noise Party 14 is amazing, btw.

BIZLANG - a collaboration between Christian Erickson (Byzantine Beatbox, The Sevateem, Astronaut Wife, Woodland Mall 1981) and Alana Horton (alone-a, The Controversial New “Skinny Pill”) - is a shared vocabulary of voice, loops, beats, synthesis, noise, patterns, math, oracles and vibes built over a year-long practice of duo improvisation. This is their first performance.
