Our friend Chris Schlarb from BIG EGO records sent us this amazing package of two vinyl records: Two CDs and a great book on recording called "ON RECORDING A MANIFESTO." @bigegostudios
While I write this I’m listening to Psychic Temple’s Music for Airports. An impressive group of musicians with Mike Watt on Bass. I’m not going to do an analysis, just listen to the music.
As a long-time listener of improvised music, this is very familiar to me. I think the reason I love improvised music like this is that it's always fresh and new in that it only happens once in space and time. I especially appreciate improvisation, as I get bored easily and always want new experiences to keep me interested, be it music, art, travel, food, etc.
Also in the package on vinyl:
"EVERYWHEN WE GO" featuring MIKE BAGETTA / JIM KELTNER / MIKE WATT. I had the pleasure of recording as a bass player with legendary drummer Jim Keltner in the late '70s. It's still one of my favorite memories. His drumming has an incredible feel, so easy to play with like floating on air.
The two CDs are:
LAFAYETTE BEN CHARLATAN,
INTRODUCING
and
Canyon
Also included was Chris’s new book ON RECORDING A MANIFESTO.
You can find all sorts of info on recording and making records on the web but this is a real book about how to make real music. Highly recommend it. It's how I think of creativity and how to manifest it. On page 32, Chris mentions making a lot of records on our Tree Audio 8-channel Roots console. We appreciate what he had to say about our console. See the image to read what he said.
Please help us support Chris Schlarb on his creative Journeys. Thanks, Chris.

Tree Audio & Neil Young: A few months back, we got a call from a friend and work associate, Eric Lynn. Eric is the studio manager at Shangri-La recording studio in Malibu, now Rick Rubin's studio. Previously, Eric ordered a recording console from our company for Capitol Records (see the photo of Ian Gardiner and Steve Firlotte with that console).
So when Eric was putting together equipment for one of Rick Rubin's productions, which turned out to be Neil Young and Crazy Horse's latest album, "World Record," he reached out to Tree Audio. Neil records to analog tape using vintage gear. Eric wondered if we had any consoles available. We had nothing in stock except our Tree Audio Roots Senior, a small 8-channel tube sidecar. So Neil used our Roots Senior while recording at Shangri-La. (See the Roots Sr. behind Neil Young in the screenshot of the Break the Chain video)
Tree Audio's designer/co-owner, @ian_gardiner_design, is from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where Neil grew up musically, so it was a special honor for Ian to have Neil use our Tree Audio console.

Thank you @savannah_studios_
for this nice comment and photo of a Tree Audio Roots Gen I console. We're catching up on social media after a few crazy years. This helps.
Reposted from @savannah_studios_ It’s one thing to get an eyeful of our custom Tree Audio Roots console (we know… it’s pretty) but the true beauty lies in the way it sounds. Pure analog, vacuum tube warmth built with love right here in Los Angeles, California. Stop by the studio and take a look and a listen. We’re talking silvery sounds all around. Just ask Barry Gibb…
