WORK-IN-PROGRESS SCREENING: IN THE MOMENT
Coming up next week on Thursday, February 12th at 6:00pm at SLCC South City Campus Screening Room (1575 S State St, Salt Lake City, UT 84115) is our Work-in-Progress Screening of the documentary In the Moment: The Vicky Bradshaw Story directed by filmmaker Jen Banks.
In the Moment weaves together interviews and memories to chronicle a queer woman’s final chapter with ovarian cancer. Filmed two decades ago and brought forward as her lasting legacy, the film illuminates the universal questions of how we live, love and remember.
WIP Screenings are open to the public but seating is limited. Please let us know you are coming through event registration in the link in bio.
UDA’s Work-in-Progress Screening Series is an opportunity for local documentary filmmakers to get feedback on their unfinished film during the critical stage of post-production. If you’d like to apply for an upcoming opportunity to screen your film, you can find out more at our website (link in bio).

I’m excited (and honestly genuinely honored) to share that I’ve been asked to join a Sundance documentary panel as a panelist - invited by the Utah Documentary Association and Tyler Smith, Professor of Film at Salt Lake Community College.
We’ll discuss what it actually takes to make documentaries in Utah, and make a living doing it.
MAKE IT IN UTAH: Panel & Party!
🗓️ Tuesday, January 27, 2026
🕡 6:30–9:00 PM
📍 SLCC South Campus – Multipurpose Room (1575 S State St, SLC)
🎟️ FREE (but you do need to register to save your spot)
I’ll be joining a killer lineup, including:
J.R. Hardman (UDA) as moderator
Jonathan Goodman Levitt from the Documentary Producers Alliance (bringing real-world perspective + data on making films outside the major coastal hubs)
Holly Tucket (UDA Steering Committee) — director of ‘Church and State’ and ‘Anchor Point’
I’m planning to bring a few honest stories from the trenches. If you’re a doc filmmaker, editor, shooter, producer, student, or just documentary-curious, come join the conversation. Let’s trade stories, swap resources, and talk about what’s next for nonfiction storytelling in our State.
Event info + registration is on the UDA site

MAKE IT IN UTAH: PANEL & PARTY!
On Tuesday, January 27th at 6:30pm, we hope you’ll join us for our Salt Lake City Sundance Send-Off and a frank and open discussion about the state of documentary filmmaking in Utah as we look forward to what’s next for non-fiction filmmakers in our state.
We’re partnering with the Documentary Producers Alliance and Salt Lake Community College to host a Panel Discussion and Mixer at the SLCC South City Campus.
This event is FREE and OPEN TO ALL, but we ask that you RSVP (link in bio) to give us an idea of how many people to plan for.

Together, we’ve made it to the final month of 2025, and Utah Documentary Association has managed to host four Work-In-Progress Screenings, three mixer events, watched a lot of movies, and advocated for local nonfiction filmmakers!
Our work is fueled by an all-volunteer Steering Committee (which is open to taking on new members) and our amazing community of filmmakers and documentary enthusiasts, and we’re so happy to have you as part of it.
We wanted to let you know how to get your own UDA Merch through our TeePublic Shop and/or support our organization today on Giving Tuesday through our donation page on Zeffy.

Hello Friends of Utah Documentary Association!
We’re posting today to ask you for your help. RIGHT NOW!
Public Media is Facing an Existential Threat
Public Media across the U.S. (including right here in Utah) is facing a critical threat!
On June 3rd, a total federal funding rescission request for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), was sent by the White House to Congress. Congress now has less than 45 days to approve or reject this request. A simple majority in both chambers is needed to claw back $1.1 billion in already-approved funding for NPR and PBS.
It is possible the House will vote as early as TOMORROW so NOW is the time to contact your legislators if you would like to help save Public Media. You can tell your legislators how you benefit from the modest investment of about $1.60 per year per person.
CPB funding supports Utah filmmakers, local programming, and local television and radio stations including PBS Utah (KUED), KUER, Avanza 88.3, KRCL, KPCW, Utah Public Radio, and Utah Education Network (UEN). These are our stations! These are our stories!
To find your representatives, you can visit: https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member (link in bio)
Utah’s House Reps include:
Rep. Blake Moore (District 1)
Rep. Celeste Maloy (District 2)
Rep. Mike Kennedy (District 3)
Rep. Burgess Owens (District 4)
Utah’s Senators include:
Sen. Mike Lee
Sen. John Curtis

SERIOUSLY, NOW IS THE TIME! REACH OUT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!

Register for this FREE event tomorrow night at the SLC Downtown library! Great opportunity to hear and learn the art of pitching a film. Link in Bio!
