To celebrate our renewed partnership with Premiership Women’s Rugby, we hosted a roundtable with leaders in construction and elite women’s sport.
During our thought-provoking session, we tackled key topics shaping sport and the built environment:
• The meaning of true allyship and how men can support women in the workplace
• You can’t be it if you can’t see it – how positive role models are essential for change
• Why investment and continued growth are key to creating inclusivity
A huge thank you to our incredible panel for sharing their experiences with us so openly! Together we’ll keep breaking down barriers, championing equality and making construction and sport more inclusive environments where women can thrive.

🏉 We’re excited to announce that we are continuing our partnership with Premiership Woman's Rugby for another two years!
Following a collaboration that powered the Red Roses all the way to their Rugby World Cup victory, we’re doubling down on our commitment to transform construction and elite sport into environments where women can thrive.
Together with @thepwr, we’re redefining what’s possible in male dominated spaces as we champion equality, challenge boundaries and create real opportunities for women to accelerate their careers.
Here's to the phenomenal women who are pushing the limits, setting new standards and achieving the impossible, on and off the field. Together, we’ll keep driving change.
Let’s go! 💪✨

As UKREiiF draws to a close, we couldn’t help but ask some of our delegates one question:
What does UKREiiF stand for?
Let's put them to the test!
Once again, our sincere thanks to the outstanding panellists, mentors, partners and delegates who shared their insights and expertise at the Wates Pavilion. It’s a privilege to work with all of you.

Good morning from the @ukreiif event in Leeds! ☀️
Throughout the day, we’re bringing together Wates delegates, partners and leaders from across the public and private sectors to explore some of the big questions facing government, investors and the built environment. This year, our focus is firmly on the ideas, decisions and partnerships needed to deliver resilient public-sector estates and long‑term economic growth, including:
● How we coordinate an increasingly busy public-sector pipeline
● What effective collaboration looks like when scale, pace and certainty all matter
● How public-private partnerships can unlock capital for social infrastructure
● Ensuring the right skills, capability and capacity are in place to deliver what the country needs
Our team will share insights from justice, health, education and wider public infrastructure, grounded in delivery experience and informed by our work across the majority of the UK’s public-sector frameworks.

Our team delivering the AESC UK project in Sunderland has been awarded the Most Considerate Project Award at this year’s National Site Awards, hosted by the Considerate Constructors Scheme, at a recent ceremony in London.
This is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to the strength of collaboration between our Wates Construction and SES teams, who have worked seamlessly together throughout the project.
National recognition of this kind reflects the consistency, professionalism, and pride demonstrated by everyone involved, every single day.
The award celebrates not only the high quality of delivery on site, but also our shared commitment to safety, respect for the local community, and the positive culture we continue to foster across the project.
A huge congratulations to all involved. An outstanding and thoroughly deserved result!

In less than four weeks' time, the HMP Welland Oaks team from our Construction business will lace up their boots and clip into their pedals for a charity walk or cycle, in support of four brilliant causes.
With the challenge day set for 22 May, preparation is ramping up. Some members of the joint Wates, @macegroup and Ministry of Justice (@mojgovuk) team are already getting in vital training walks to build stamina and resilience ahead of the big day.
Around 60 people working on the construction of the new prison near Gartree will be taking part. Starting and finishing at the prison construction site, the circular routes will wind through the best of south Leicestershire, taking in Roman roads, canals and picturesque villages along the way.
The challenge aims to raise £40,000, which will be shared between @wearelighthousecharity, @macmillancancer, @loroshospice (a local end-of-life hospice), and @leicwildlifehospital.
Cheer on the team and help them reach their target. Make a donation now: https://www.justgiving.com/team/paul-reynolds-2026

What an exciting moment for the Grangetown community as the club opened its fully refurbished kitchen.
There was a real sense of pride and togetherness as we joined Grangetown Boys and Girls Club to officially open their new kitchen. This space will give young people, families and locals a friendly place to cook, learn new skills and enjoy food as a community.
Cllr Lynda Thorne joined the celebrations and helped cut the ribbon. It was great to see volunteers and members coming together to make the most of the new space, which was already buzzing with activity.
We worked closely with Moores, who kindly donated the new kitchen, and we are very grateful to our supply chain partners ISTL, Advanced Carpentry Solutions and Denvalco for giving their time and skills to support the refurbishment. Their contribution helped create a bright and modern space that the club can enjoy for years to come.
This kitchen is part of our wider commitment to the Channel View regeneration, where we are working with @cardiff_council to deliver new homes and real social value for the Grangetown community.
A huge thank you to everyone at the club, to the volunteers, and to all our partners for bringing this to life. Projects like this remind us what can happen when people work together with a shared purpose.
