The epicentre of the Ebola health crisis in eastern DRC is in the heart of WFP’s operational areas.

The outbreak comes at an especially dangerous moment: across the country, 26.5 million people are already facing acute hunger, with millions in the east living through conflict, displacement, and fragile health systems. Even small disruptions to markets, access, or livelihoods can push families deeper into crisis.

Ebola is not just a health emergency — it is a threat multiplier, risking deeper hunger if humanitarian access and assistance are not scaled up.

WFP is working with the Government of DRC, WHO and partners to move responders, deliver vital supplies, and support affected communities — while protecting staff and partners on the ground.
