The Six Square House has been nominated for a Mies Crown Hall America Prize. The prize founded by the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology illustrates the excellence demonstrated in built works of architecture of the 21st century in the Americas. @miescrownhallamericasprize

For the Six Square House, the client requested an architectural solution to collect various landscapes and activities around the site and serve as a central hub and gathering space. In response, the design for the Six Square House proposes a selectively truncated excerpt of a continuous planimetric tessellation of squares, equilateral triangles, and isosceles triangles. This patterning allows for the gabled ends of each square to “reach out” with multiple orientations both looking and receiving in all directions.

#TheRolodex — before I was a design professional™️ I remember buying my first home + feeling totally overwhelmed by how to approach the design journey. I would have *died* to work with an interior designer or architect but put every dollar I had into my down payment! I stalked some of my fave designers to see what I could learn from them but I didn’t find much... now as a designer, I know why us designers get some damn protective over great vendors (hint: they are hard to find!) but this series is for everyone out there who is just trying to MAKE IT HAPPEN I FEEL YOU. 🫡
