Thank you to everyone who came down yesterday to the first gala screening of Gore Street, Fitzroy at Cinema Nova. There was certainly a strong spirit of Fitzroy in the air with so many great stories shared, and I’m told Rose Chong forgot to tell the one about when Beyoncé visited her shop! I’ll have to follow that up. Thank you to @cinemanova for hosting a very wholesome afternoon and to Kristian for facilitating a great conversation. And to Mario De Pasquale for sharing memories of the artist heyday of Brunswick Street in the 80s. There will be another gala screening on May 17th at 1:15pm with another panel discussion to follow the film. Hope to see you there :)

Gore Street, Fitzroy (2025) will be getting it’s theatrical release at @cinemanova. It was at Nova back in 2008, watching Man on Wire, that I distinctly remember deciding that I wanted to make documentaries. :) And so this is quite a special moment! Join me for the premiere screening on the afternoon of May 3rd, followed by a panel discussion with Rose Chong and Mario De Pasquale of Marios Cafe.
There will be an encore screening on 17th May and it will also be playing alongside Love and Other Catastrophes and Lygon Street: Si Parla Italiano during the month of May as they platform Australian cinema. Tickets and session times are on sale via the Cinema Nova website. And if you’re there anytime soon, look out for the trailer and maybe take a pic for me!

Last Friday’s final outdoor screening of Gore Street, Fitzroy (2025) was so special. Thank to everyone who came down. We had Rachel and Claudia who used to live on Gore Street working on the bar, then Chris whose house backs onto the park came to help when we needed to move @palestinian_chef_aheda ‘s food truck and the Sacred Heart School kids spent their Friday afternoon preparing all the chairs for us. 🧡 It was such a good example of community coming together and supporting one another, and also such a lovely night. For those of you who missed it, there will be a few opportunities to see it in the near future which I will announce here :)
Thank you to @mateo.soda and @mischiefbrew_au au for supporting with drinks to match the evening. To Falastinian Kitchen for the delicious food. @littleprojectorcompany for the screen and @nsa_security ty. Thank you also to the @cityofyarra for helping host the event and a very big thank you to @harrisonsimic for organising the event with me.

Funziona senza problemi su iOS, Android, Windows, macOS e browser moderni come Chrome e Safari.
