✨ NEW EPISODE PREMIERE ✨
Healing & C-PTSD, joy, and the courage to play again — with @complex.dani 🤍
In this raw and deeply validating episode of Confetti Conversations, Dani and Jelena talk about what happens when you were born into chaos — when there was no “before the trauma.” They name what so many survivors feel but don’t always have words for: people-pleasing as survival, being “great” in chaos, and realizing your whole personality was actually a set of coping mechanisms.
Through confetti and conversation, we explore how C-PTSD shows up in adulthood — emotional flashbacks, toxic shame, recreating chaotic environments because they feel “cozy” — and how intentional joy, inner-child play, and community can actually help us write a new blueprint.
Dani’s honesty is a reminder that there’s nothing wrong with you — there’s something wrong with what happened to you. And that slowing down, playing, and letting yourself be seen isn’t weakness — it’s healing. 🌷
For anyone who never had a safe childhood to “find themselves,” who’s been told they’re too much, or who’s trying to expand their capacity for joy — this one’s for you. 🌈🎉☁️💌✨

Are you an incest survivor who managed to tell someone what happened? Were you met with belief? In some cases, even those who are believed have their experiences minimized by those around them.
In this clip from our Incest AWAREness Day April 21 event, Amira Trevino speaks about what it’s like when your abuse is minimized.
Thanks again to @healing.and.cptsd, @complex.Dani @nubiadwilson, Amira Trevino, and @speak.the.turth.with.abby for participating in this meaningful awareness event.

The monthly theme over @healing.and.cptsd is the fawn response, which is something I am extremely passionate about breaking the stigma around. I even wrote an expert contribution about this common survival response for, “We are The Evidence: A Handbook for Finding Your Way After Sexual Assault” by Cheyenne Wilson.
If you’re looking for folks who get it, I cofacilitate a support circle over @healing.and.cptsd community with @wearetheevidence for who have experienced sexualized trauma. There are also many other support circles and virtual events throughout the month. Check them out.
Image description: All slides have a photo background with a text overlay. Slide 1: Photo of a dear. Text, The fawn response is not only about appeasing. Sometimes it shows up as not wanting or being able to walk away from a person or situation until you have “fixed” the problem or “changed the ending.” / Slide 2: Photo of a microphone. Text, *Taps mic* A victim speaking positively about their abuser or engaging in any type of communication/relationship after experiencing abuse does not mean that the abuse did not happen. Stop victim blaming. / Slide 3: Photo of a dresser with flowers. Text, Abuse culture is judging survivors for the fawn response while simultaneously punishing them when they don’t attempt to appease you or the situation. The fawn response is learned. Abuse culture blames and vilifies survivors for trying to survive in conditions it’s created. / Slide 4: Photo of vintage mirrors. Text, Trauma responses are a plan for survival not a judgement of character. / Slide 5: Photo of a grass maze. Text, Dear Survivor, Staying in contact, a relationship, or sleeping with the person who assaulted you does not invalidate what happened to you. It doesn’t mean what happened to you wasn’t “that bad.” It’s actually really common and you are not alone.
