Today is National Sorry Day, and tonight we light up purple to acknowledge the Stolen Generations and the ongoing trauma caused by those government policies that forcibly removed First Nations children from their families.

This year’s theme for National Sorry Day is ‘We cannot wait another generation’.

There is more work to be done for a reconciled Australia.

Every cent goes directly to dedicated workshops, school programs, more subsidised places in courses and new pathways into courses for those who would benefit most.

From Times Square to Fed Square – just announced! 💙 To mark the opening of RISING – Cannupa Hanska Luger’s 𝙈𝙞𝙙é𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙖𝙙𝙞 will transform the Square into an open-air canvas over three nights.
 
Warm up by the fire pits to experience the multi-channel video piece, as you sip hot chocolate and enjoy a reimagined sausage sizzle thanks to @killarafoundation, celebrating First Nations flavours.
 
Relax into a beanbag or deckchair, and connect with something greater – 𝙈𝙞𝙙é𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙖𝙙𝙞 considers ways First Peoples globally interconnect through dance and new media which honours Ancestral knowledge.
 
Also in the Square for RISING’s opening weekend, @ACMIonline is open late for 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙑𝙞𝙣𝙮𝙡 𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮: 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙗 with $10 tickets available after 5pm. Make a night of it, and move between the exhibition and the Fed Square takeover at your own pace.
