When I fully processed I wouldn’t be working this summer, I went straight to fear, not only of not earning, there was also another thing, that we aren’t really supposed to talk about- the fear of being full on, day in and day out with a toddler. I get bored with routine and even though leaving her is soul crushing, I also feel a tiny bit of relief. For once I gave myself no outs and it was hard, but it was mostly, two of the funniest, wondrous, beautiful months of my entire life.I learned so much about love, heartbreak, sitting with hard emotions and the wisdom of no escape.I have to go back to work, and that’s a good thing, but our bond is so much stronger and I faced one of my biggest fears- which is essentially vulnerability. The willingness to sit and stay in the messiness, the hurt or anger and make some peace with it all. 🧘🏻‍♀️💥

M O L L YB L O O M

Interview}John Russo

Photographs by}John Russo

Location} Montecito,California

Produced by}Ken Waller for Photohouse Productions

Make up} Kelsey Deenihan Fisher

Hair} Nikki Lee

JR: Take yourself back to your skiing days. Did you ever think your life would take a turn toward poker?

MB: Unequivocally, no. I thought I knew who I was and where I was going, but life had other plans.

JR: Once you got immersed in the world of high-stakes underground poker, did it become an addiction or a high?

MB: I started as a waitress, and within eight months, I was running my own games. I had intimate access to fascinating people—from artists to politicians, sports legends, and some of the most brilliant minds in business. The conversations were riveting, and I soaked it all in, filling volumes of journals with what I was learning. I was also running a company, managing millions of dollars and big personalities. I learned about hospitality at the highest level, how to make people feel valued, and how to cultivate trust and loyalty. In the beginning, it was a rich, valuable experience, but over the years, it became something else—it turned dark. I saw the underbelly of organized crime, the con world, and I watched lives, including my own, unravel.I started to crave the high on the days I didn’t host a game, and by the time I started the New York game, I was fully addicted to the money, the thrill, and even the danger. It was never enough. Read the entire interview at Giojournal.com. #mollybloom #mollysgame #jessicachastain #highstakes #poker #pokerstars

I learned about stoicism in a philosophy class in college, and it profoundly impacted me. After I left school and moved to LA I wasn’t exactly immersed in philosophy from the 3rd Century BC.Thank God for @ryanholiday, for not only making this ancient, and very relevant knowledge accessible, but for distilling it into practical use cases for today. For me, Stoicism is the way, and meditation and mindfulness are the how. We live in a world where we get to connect withsome of our favorite thinkers and Ryan is one of mine, thanks for your commitment to knowledge and thanks for having me on. The rest of the conversation is on @dailystoic podcast.

Last week we celebrated International Women’s Day at Atlas Tower with an inspiring gathering of women, centered around this year’s theme: “Give to Gain.”

The theme is a powerful reminder that progress happens when we support one another, share knowledge, and invest in each other’s growth.

We were honored to welcome guest speaker Molly Bloom -entrepreneur, best-selling author, and former U.S. Ski Team athlete and the real-life inspiration behind the Oscar-nominated film Molly's Game, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. Molly shared her remarkable journey and an important lesson that perfectly reflected the theme: instead of focusing on what we can get, focus on what we can give—our presence, our support, and our encouragement.

Learn more about the Atlas Women in Wireless initiative and how we are building a community focused on learning, leading, and lifting each other up:
https://atlastowers.com/2026/03/08/atlas-women-in-wireless-learning-leading-and-lifting-each-other-up/

Thank you, Molly, for sharing your story and inspiring our community.

Molly Bloom interview is live on YouTube, Spotify & Apple:

I really enjoyed this one. Not only has Molly lived a crazy life, but she’s incredibly sharp and great at articulating her lessons learned along the way.

We got into topics like self-talk, failure, emotional intelligence, overcoming fear, negotiation, building trust, affective presence, mental toughness, power, and human psychology. I got a ton out of this conversation personally, and I hope you all do too.

Enjoy!

I am not even a little bit mad that this just showed up on my doorstep. Also, that I now know the UPS driver by name which I don’t think he’s happy about. 😬

I cannot wait to have @sarahmvacchiano on the podcast in a few weeks!

Also, the fact that @immollybloom, author of Molly‘s Game, which I loved watching on screen with @jessicachastain @idriselba (what does Idris or Jessica do that ISN’T amazing) owns the entire back cover makes it all the more intriguing!

In summary, think I’m going to need to hole up somewhere with a fireplace and no Internet for two weeks and fill my suitcase with books and books alone.

@ktkurtzman for publicist win yet again!!

The Three Archetypes of an Ultra High-Stakes Poker Player

@Jason asked @immollybloom:

“I wonder what you could tell us about the nature of the men who are obsessed with playing this game and playing it at these stakes?”

Molly: “ There's a couple different archetypes.”

1) Self-destructive bullet train

“So it's not just high stakes poker, right? It's putting their marriage in bad places in very egregious ways, there's drugs. It’s the hedonic treadmill gone crazy.”

2) Highly competitive, comfortable with volatility

“In fact, they prefer volatility and chaos, but still have some semblance of control over themself.”

3) Rich poker lovers

“There are people that play because they love the game, because they like the aspects of it that make it an incredible game. They like the psychology, they like seeing the results of making high-level decisions with very limited information.”
