New York Farewell: Public Records, Brooklyn — April 15 & 16, 2026

The final show of the series takes place this Saturday at Half Moon in Hudson, New York and is already SOLD OUT.

Thanks to everyone who has supported our collaboration over the years. If you spot yourself or a friend in the crowd shots, please leave a comment and tag them (or yourself).

The recordings remain.
And, in some ways, the project hasn’t fully run its course. Here comes the LULL…

Experimental duo Buke and Gase played their NYC farewell shows at Public Records on Wednesday and Thursday.

In a statement earlier this year, Arone Dyer wrote:

"Buke and Gase!
How I love thee,
Let me count the ways…
Oh wait, no. That time signature is way too convoluted.

My Buke & Gase collaborator Aron Sanchez and I have been in each other’s worlds for a while now, nearing twenty-six years! We’ve traveled a lot, much like a family, or perhaps more than a typical family. And we’ve become family because of it. And now it’s time to break up that family, and start our own…

Case in point: I’m pregnant! Which means big (welcome) changes.

I’m sitting here trying to write a blurb explaining why we, Buke and Gase, are throwing in the towel, and it’s annoying to admit, but the income-factor is a part of it. Everywhere we go, music is being played in the background, and somehow the money for that usage never reaches the people who create the art. Streaming has made the selling of albums nearly impossible! And now artists have to contend with AI? Really? Is this what the kids are into? (More like what a small number of money-making adults are forcing upon all of us.) Do you really want to listen to music made by…let’s be real, it’s not Intelligence, but Artificial IMITATION? Pah! Mere mimicry! (I feel like I need to note that no AI was utilized to write this.)

I digress.

And yet: we love our fans. We want to share our energy with you one last time. Or two or three last times. Brooklyn and Hudson are both places that are essential to our story—the former is where we met; the latter is where we both ended up living by the early 2010s.

So we’re calling this our New York farewell!

Let us give you a warm hug goodbye."

So we’re calling this our New York farewell!

Let us give you a warm hug goodbye."

In anticipation of our New York farewell shows next month, we’re sharing another clip from our documentary + concert film.

“Bottom of the Barolo” comes from DRY DANIEL, our “lost album” recorded in 2014 and finally released during the pandemic in 2020 as a Bandcamp exclusive for our SCHOLARS ALLIANCE.

@missarone on the song: “It’s about being drunk… but it’s not about being drunk. And I’m going to let other people figure out for themselves what it’s about.”

Buke and Gase is going into a bit of a “lull.” We’re playing a few shows as part of our New York Farewell, and we’d love to see you there.

Wednesday April 15 — Brooklyn, New York @publicrecordsnyc

Thursday April 16 — Brooklyn, New York @publicrecordsnyc (SOLD OUT)

Saturday April 25 — Hudson, New York @halfmoonhudson (SOLD OUT)

🎟️  Ticket links in bio 🎟️

Ok so the headlines are reading sharp & prickly - I mean, they’re not ENTIRELY wrong... but it’s not a dramatic divorce or anything... or maybe it is? (click bait! guuuh eyeroll city)

Please read Arone’s statement in full on those websites @pitchfork @stereogum @brooklynvegan you used to check out and maybe look at less because you have kids, or the world’s best dog, or an extremely successful garden, or you’re not going out to shows anymore.

Arone will be EXTRA pregnant so the buke will have to sit somewhere on the perimeter of her globe-like belly.

🎟️  Ticket links in bio 🎟️
Wait did we say that already?

Oh — and if you enjoy reading, Arone is posting on Substack here and there, mostly about becoming a volunteer fire fighter.

A few weeks ago we played our first show in over a half-decade. Aron @polyphonicworkshop chatted with his girlfriend Daonne @ladydaydayday about it.

He wonders “Do we still have it? Can we pull it off? Does our gear work?” 🖇️ in bio for the full chat.

Subscribers to @BukeAndGase’s Scholars Alliance can also hear a four song bootleg and some banter from the show on Bandcamp at bukeandgase.bandcamp.com/scholars-alliance

Everyone else remember to give the live soundtrack to the documentary & concert film a spin. It’s now available everywhere music is streamed or sold: orcd.co/bukeandgasefilm

Did you know the live soundtrack to the documentary & concert film about us is out tomorrow? And that we’re playing our first show in over 5 years on Saturday?

No biggie if you can’t make it—you can watch a whole movie about us. It’s on @tubi, Amazon’s Prime Video & plenty of other places. Here is a sample, US performing “Hard Times”

Hello, we play Long Play Festival in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday May 3rd at 10pm at @BRICbrooklyn. This is our first live performance in front of people since 2019 so it’s really a lot a lot. Tickets & more details at bangonacan.org/long-play-2025

The day before that show, Friday May 2nd, we release the live soundtrack to the documentary and concert film about us that came out in 2023. Since we don’t like repeating ourselves this is probably the closest we’ll ever come to making a Greatest Hits collection. You can stream half the album, seven songs, right now in all the places. Find it at orcd.co/bukeandgasefilm

📢 ANNOUNCEMENT: Buke and Gase will play Bang on a Can’s Long Play Festival May 2-4, 2025 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. It’s our first NYC show since 2018.

🗣️ from @MissArone:
Oh my god what have we done!
So…
The last time we performed for a hometown audience was, get this, November 6th 2018 - SO much has happened to the point where if I continued the “befores” it would look like a shopping list of inedible, frustrating, sickening, wherewasigoingwiththisohyeah it’s been a while. Not hungry making.

But we’re doing it, goddamnit, and I am here for it! I am also terrified of performing music that feels detached to the present day, despite my connection to it. But it’s so special. This musical project with Aron has meant life or death at times, a healing mantra or a weapon, both for me - and from what I hear from those who’ve taken the leap to reach out to us directly - for others as well. I can’t tell you how important it is for me to sing the way I do to our music. It’s like breathing. I haven’t breathed since 2018, so this is a big deal, and I want it to count. Be sure we will do a deep dive for those fans who’ve followed us through thick and thin. Looking forward to seeing you there!

⬅️👆 Swipe left for a taste of that last NYC gig at @mercuryloungeny — and a slightly longer clip in our stories.

ℹ️ at bangonacan.org/long-play-2025 — early bird festival passes are available now 🎟️
