Losing pitches is tough—especially this one. In October 2024 and on invitation by @kunsthauszuerich we presented three design approaches for its soft redesign, aiming to create a cohesive visual identity, enhance recognition, and reflect the institution’s self-image.

In close collaboration with @silvanpossa we proposed three concepts:

📌 ARCHITECTURE AS KEY – Celebrating the New Building
Inspired by the link between the Chipperfield extension and the historic Pfister building, we developed a structured, line-based design that organizes content and creates playful visual spaces.

📌 TRANSITION AS KEY – Embracing the Interim Phase
A restrained, more neutral design ensures a seamless transition toward the 2027/28 redesign, maintaining clarity while reflecting the museum’s evolving identity.

📌 LOGO AS KEY – Strengthening Visual Heritage
By reintegrating its original typeface, the Kunsthaus Zürich logo reinforces its visual heritage, while a refined identity as “Kunsthaus”highlights its status as Switzerland’s most comprehensive museum.

ROLE is looking for a Graphic Design Intern to join our small, independent studio working at the intersection of concept and visual form. The practice navigates between print and digital contexts, with a strong focus on clarity, authorship, and typographic precision.

You are:
— in your 2nd or 3rd year of a BA in Visual Communication or a comparable programme
— interested in research-led design and the development of strong, coherent visual concepts
— curious, reflective, and attentive to detail
— based in Zurich or willing to work from Zurich
— confident in German
— familiar with print design processes, prototyping, and basic motion design

The internship offers close involvement in ongoing projects and insight into the daily practice of a concept-driven graphic design studio.

Girl boss vibes.

Founded seven years ago by @lea.romana, @role.std set out to foster the visibility of women in graphic design. Looking back at this past year, we feel one step closer.
