TEDx just dropped 🌎
Did you hear that? We can all instinctively sense when something is Out Of Tune. And right now: Our whole world is out.

Last month, I stepped onto the TEDx stage to explore a simple idea:
Can music retune our relationship with nature?

Every sound, melody, lyric, and song comes from the Earth, and, yet whilst the music industry earns hundreds of billions, the living world gets nothing back… Until Now.

This is a blueprint for music, fashion, football, film, every industry on Earth to retune our relationship with nature, because when culture shifts, policy follows… and you are part of it.

If it resonates, share it. It’s how ideas travel 🌎

Thanks @tedxibiza @miakirnfedda and all the team for having me xx

We’re very proud to have EarthPercent on the Tedx stage - created and devised by @sophiashnapp who’s been a force of nature in the team.

As she explains, music has ALWAYS moved us. But what if it could move something more? After a decade inside climate policy, Sophia realised something simple: policy alone doesn’t shift systems. Culture does.

And music, one of our most powerful cultural forces, already runs on a model of shared value. Our co-founders @brianeno, @hirokishirasuka and @callanadam asked: what if the Earth had a seat at the table?

That’s why EarthPercent exists. To channel the immense power of music to the Earth: and giving her back a cut. Artists and music companies are now pledging a percentage of their income, from touring, recordings, songwriting, back to the living world.

Happy Earth Day 🌍
Earth has always made music.
Here’s a glimpse into the more creative side of my TEDx talk, the inspiration, the quotes, the sounds created with @auntie._.flo, and the visuals brought to life with @fannypropp + @deadbeatboris .
This was a mixed media moment, an attempt to feel, not just explain. Because: we’re not separate from nature.
We are nature.
WE ARE NATURE.
If it resonates, the full talk is live, link in bio 🤎

What if nature wasn’t just something music gave back to…
…but something recognised within music’s economic system?

Through the @soundsright.earth initiative, a multi-sector partnership lead by @museumfortheun, in partnership with @spotify and @earthpercent...

we made NATURE an artist.

Officially.

Today, nature has over 30 million listeners worldwide.

When her sounds are streamed, forests, oceans, rain, she earns royalties, just like any other artist. And those funds flow back to the ecosystems and communities behind the sound.

This isn’t symbolic.
It’s a systems shift.

And guess what? You can already listen to @nature_theartist on all major streaming platforms.
And your listening become part of the repair.

What do condoms, recording waves, and the most dissonant sound imaginable have in common?

This Sunday (19 April), we get into it at Plants Can Dance.

Ahead of it, I sat down with friend and guest speaker Sophia Shnapp — talking experimental sound, making music with nature, and how initiatives like @earthpercent are reshaping our relationship with the living world.

She’ll be sharing a live version of her recent TEDx talk:
“Earth has always made music. Time she gets her credit?”

Join us alongside @pauljjtreichl, @pierre.paslier and residents @lamine.wav @repot.hackneywick at No90 Hideout, Hackney Wick from 4pm.

Earth has always made music.
Time she gets credit?

What a journey. A friend described the TED process as the Artist’s Way on speed, I laughed, it felt very accurate. Months of digging deep, rewrites (draft 14? still not there), learning every word by heart… then stepping onto that petrifying red dot 🔴 Never have I respected the art of storytelling more.

I was ten when I moved to the middle of nowhere in Scotland and felt for the first time, cocooned by the natural world. And yet it was always music that made me feel at home. Those two things; nature and music, have shaped my life.

So this felt like a full-circle moment.

@tedxibiza theme this year was Thinking Cultura, I shared a simple idea on how music is retuning our world, which feels especially timely, given everything unfolding right now.

The music industry earns hundreds of billions, and the Earth, the original source of every sound, earns nothing. Until now. Credits to @earthpercent, @soundsright.earth, @nature_theartist and MANY MORE.

Hope you enjoy some of the BTS, the talk will be on YouTube soon.

Humbled to have shared the stage with some of the finest minds out there. & Hats off the the TEDx crew, you magicians: Mia, Sasha, Marina, Olivia, Adam, Sara, Gypsy, Francis, Bex, Ben, Tarek, all the production crew. thank you @ibizatravel for bringing this to life.

HUGE HUGE love to everyone that was part of this journey, you know who you are, you are my village.

ONE LOVE XXX

Marrakech, March 2026. One of those history-shaping moments.

50+ delegates from around the world joined the Marrakech Partnership Accelerator. Artists, cultural workers, policymakers, institutions, all gathered with one mission: place culture, creativity, the arts, entertainment and heritage at the heart of climate action. Not as decoration, as a foundational pillar.

The result is the first draft of the Culture Global Stocktake for Climate Action, a document that mirrors the official UN Global Stocktake so that culture can speak the same policy language and actually be heard in climate decision-making. DRAFT 1 is out now, I’m excited to share it with you to read, sit with, and send your thoughts across. Link in bio. This is an interactive document and if you care for culture and our world: your voice belongs in it.

MASSIVE RESPECT to the @entertainmentculturepavilion team who spent months of global collaboration getting this over the line. Your dedication, determination and motivation continues to blows me away.

Cherry on top: I got to spend the weekend with my faves who, as fate had it, were also in Morocco. Charmed by the Atlantic coast, Essaouira, Taghazout, and Paradise Valley which 100% earns its name.

Yes yes yes, MOROCCO 🧡

At TEDxIbiza 2026, @sophiashnapp @earthpercentwill ask a deceptively simple question:
What if our world isn’t broken, just out of tune?

From folk songs in rural Scotland, climate negotiations in Paris, and politicians crying in karaoke bars, Sophia traces how music helps shapes what societies value. And how, at a planetary tipping point, it might help us remember the value of nature itself.

Her talk weaves together culture, climate, and collaborations with waves, revealing how EarthPercent is turning music into a blueprint for valuing nature.

🇪🇸

En TEDxIbiza 2026, @sophiashnapp @earthpercent planteará una pregunta aparentemente sencilla:
¿Y si nuestro mundo no estuviera roto, sino simplemente desafinado?

What if music isn’t just entertainment… but a remembering?
A returning.
A way back into feeling ourselves as part of nature, not living apart from it.

I had the joy of dropping into a wide, playful, intuitive conversation with Dan on @thespaceship.earth, following the thread of music, culture, and the deeper currents shaping this moment on Earth. 🔗 in bio

We spoke about the work I do with @earthpercent, @wisdomdelegation, FUTR Earth and beyond, but labels never quite capture what’s really happening underneath. At the heart of it, I’m always moving between worlds… Treating imagination as something essential, not decorative.

This conversation opened up so much.

We explored music as something that wakes us up again — not just emotionally, but somatically:
How a bassline can regulate a whole room.
How a melody can remind you that your heart hasn’t gone anywhere.
How a festival, a choir, or a dancefloor can become a temporary village — a place where we remember how to belong.

And we found ourselves asking:

What if music is one of the ways the Earth is trying to get our attention back?
That question still hums in me.

The whole episode felt like a doorway, a shared stepping-through into a wider field of possibility, where neither of us knew exactly where we were going, but the thread kept tugging and we kept saying yes.

We wandered through:
• Music as a gateway into feeling, intuition, interconnection
• Nature as origin story — how our childhood landscapes shape our work today
• Culture as systems change — what becomes possible when artists, activists and elders collaborate
• Fear, endings, uncertainty — and feeling as medicine, not weakness
• Rites of passage & the 4 Ds: dance, drums, sleep deprivation and the “drug” of altered states
• Imagination as infrastructure — because new worlds start in conversations like this

It’s an honest, creative, mischievous, open-hearted episode.

I loved it. I hope you do too.

• Imagination as infrastructure — because new worlds start in conversations like this

It’s an honest, creative, mischievous, open-hearted episode.

I loved it. I hope you do too.

Mum, I’m on the big screen!

As this year’s Global Climate Summit fast approaches, I want to celebrate the @wisdomdelegation, a group of incredible Indigenous elders, youth activists, and bridge builders I’m honoured to walk beside.

They feature as a beacon of hope amidst the chaos in the brand new feature documentary Colossal Wreck by @joshappfilm (think Adam Curtis meets Werner Herzog ). It asks: is the climate conference our last hope for global unity, or just another @colossal.wreck of empty promises?

Colossal Wreck launches in cinemas across the UK on November 7, and if you’ve ever wondered what really happens inside these climate summits, go see it. I didn’t realise I’d become a protagonist (v cheeky move, Josh) but I’m thrilled these messages made it onto the big screen!
