🔥 Introducing Tezos X — a blockchain with superpowers — a scalable, cloud-like backend for a wide range of apps.

Read on to find out what this means — and how we could get there.

⛓️ “Modu-lithic” approach 👉 On the way to widespread adoption, the vision of Tezos X tackles the most fundamental issues facing the blockchain space today. It’s about making things faster, more usable and useful — all the while preserving the properties that make a blockchain worth having.

Combining the best of the monolithic and modular blockchain designs, Tezos X proposes an integrated ‘modu-lithic’ approach that is massively scalable, preserves composability and makes great strides towards interoperability.

Here’s what this cloud-like system may look like.

1️⃣ Scalability 👉 The first big, hairy problem in the way of widespread blockchain adoption. Since 2022, several developer teams have set out to massively scale the Tezos network to significantly improve performance and bring it closer to its broadband moment.

2️⃣ Composability 👉 When everything works together, apps can interact and become a sum bigger than its parts, like a bunch of individual Lego bricks building together into a castle. Tezos X lays the foundation for ultimate composability: one rollup to rule them all, where smart contracts written in any language can seamlessly interact under one roof.

3️⃣ Interoperability 👉 Opening Tezos up to new programming environments, connecting with other blockchains and integrating with non-blockchain systems to make Tezos plug’n’play. Developers would be able to use their preferred language and tools to build apps that can reach across boundaries.

👀 So what is Tezos X? 👇

The vision for Tezos X is a significant evolution from the original Tezos design. Tezos would be a reliable, usable, and scalable cloud-like backend for a wide range of apps.

We are delighted to announce that Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti have been appointed as the curatorial duo for the first of the two virtual exhibitions as part of the Tezos Foundation x HEK 2026 partnership. The show will premiere on the virtual.hek.ch platform, opening June 12th, 2026.

Scalera (@aurondascalera ) and Cramerotti (@curatorview ) are noted for their collaborative practice across institutional and digital contexts, including previously curating Art Dubai Digital and advising institutions and cultural bodies such as the British Council and Italian Ministry of Culture.

Their curatorial concept, 404_LAND, will adopt the error as both its central metaphor and philosophical framework. The full curatorial concept and participating artists will be announced in May.

Available to all, the virtual exhibition will also be accessible via a dedicated kiosk inside the HEK lobby throughout its duration, allowing the public to enter and experience the works both within and outside the museum walls.

Another key element of the presentation will be the release of accompanying Tezos-based NFTs on the objkt.com marketplace as well as the virtual opening tour with Scalera and Cramerotti.

Now open: “Lick Pic” by Sarah Friend (@isthisanart) and Yehwan Song (@yehwan.yen.song) at @movingimagenyc!

Part of the MoMI × @Tezos Foundation 2025–2026 programming exploring blockchain as a creative material.

On view through May 10, “Lick Pic” connectsMoMI’s collection, the digital contemporary art market, and our daily screen habits through themes of desire and possession. Four mechanical tongue sculptures “lick” mounted iPhones and iPads. Images from the Museum’s collection are presented alongside versions exposed to a diffusion model on the Schlosser Media Wall. The images rotate each time activity occurs on @objktcom, tethering the installation to the live Tezos marketplace. As the tongues lick the devices, a procedural “tongue map” spreads the images’ color palette until it dissolves into visible pixels.

Which image is the object of desire? Which are hallucinations?

Each MoMI x Tezos commission is accompanied by a process image you can collect at no cost.

The Tezos Foundation and HEK Basel announce a year-long partnership for 2026 focused on curation, education, and long-term preservation of blockchain-based art.

The partnership builds on a relationship that began in 2022, when HEK publicly outlined its commitment to presenting, mediating, and collecting digital and media art - including embracing blockchain and Web3 to expand community participation & collect sustainable on-chain works.

At the center is a program of two exhibitions on virtual.hek & an outdoor presentation at HEK’s Basel location during Art Basel 2026. The virtual exhibitions will feature artists working with blockchain-based practices, with digital artwork releases in partnership with @objktcom.

The collaboration includes an on-site kiosk at the museum and introduces audiences to blockchain and digital ownership through hands-on experiences. It also supports an international training school on NFT preservation hosted at ZKM within the EMBARK program.

This new partnership with HEK reinforces Tezos Foundation’s long-term commitment to supporting digital and blockchain art adoption across the institutional art landscape, building on prior global projects with partners including Musée d’Orsay, Serpentine, and LAS Foundation.

NOW OPEN // "Contingent" by James Bloom ( @jamesbloom01) and Gottfried Jäger at @movingimagenyc

The first presentation from MoMI and the Tezos Foundation 2025-2026 programming exploring blockchain as a creative material

On view until Feb 15, 2026 // Click the link in bio for a free mint of the process image
_______

In the late 1960s, Jäger coined the term "generative photography.” Using custom pinhole cameras, he created photographs revealing how light is captured within the camera itself.

Nearly 60 years on, Bloom worked with Jäger to create Contingent, made from a digitized dataset of the original pinhole photographs. Brightness and color in the image are reorganized as inputs into a geometric mesh. The program reshapes the mesh based on the specific color values at each point.

Where and when the piece is viewed, plus the act of viewing itself, change and complicate the artwork for everyone in real time.

Berlin became a living gallery this past week as @artontezos took over the city 🇩🇪

From @laurenleemack’s AUTO Berlin to @madebyoona’s lens-only dress and after-hours exhibitions, the week blurred the lines between art, code, and performance.

Artists and curators gathered around the works themselves instead of sitting on panels, sparking conversations about collaboration, autonomy, and what it means to create alongside technology.

And beyond the main venue, side events pulsed through cafés, lofts, and internet spaces, showing that digital art lives wherever curiosity gathers

Instagram
