When a weary traveller stumbles upon a secluded B&B, she’s told she can stay for free, if she agrees to dance with the house’s most unsettling resident.

This short film from Emmy award winning director Walker Higgins is truly something to behold. The set up is all here for a creepy, psychological tale but when the true threat reveals itself it’s too late, the horror has seeped into your psyche and you’re completely uncomfortable.

Although Kevin Must Dance is just over eight minutes long, time is dedicated to showing just how worn down and emotionally checked out our lead is. This plays so well into the build up for the finale as she has no choice but to succumb to the events that play out.

The thing that’s most effective is the simplistic way the story is told. There’s no dramatic score, unnecessary jump scares or over the top effects. By playing on how cruel humanity can be is enough to set you on edge.

Currently on the independent film festival circuit, I hope everyone will be able to check out Kevin Must Dance soon.
