Interdisciplinary media artist Nancy Lee and choreographer Emmalena Fredriksson are seeking two experienced contemporary dancers to join the cast for two upcoming performances of OSMOSi: 422 Unprocessable Entity in Ottawa as part of Pique Festival in September 2026 co-presented by Debaser and Ottawa Dance Directive.
This interdisciplinary work weaves together movement, projection, spatial sound composition and costuming to build an immersive world. Reflecting on the religion of workism and precarity of gig economy labour.

Requirements:
•Dancers who fit the previous cast costume measurements:
Height: 5’-5’5” / Shoulder width: 17-19” / Bust: 32-36” / Waist: 26-30” / Hip: 34-39”
•Dancers who enjoy precision and playfulness, interdisciplinary, politically engaged worked
•Minimum 5 years professional experience and age 19+
•We encourage dancers of all genders to apply

VIVO Media Arts and Chapel Sound co-present a hands-on workshop for video artists, filmmakers, and editors ready to expand into multi-channel video, from editing and export to physical installation in gallery and screening spaces.

🎬 Day 1: Multi-channel editing in DaVinci Resolve: configure timelines, manage sync, and develop editing strategies for multi-screen work

🖥 Day 2: Installation and screening: projector setup, cabling, signal flow, media players, and multi-screen playback systems. Closes with a group screening of participant works.

Nancy Lee 李南屏 is a Taiwanese-Canadian interdisciplinary media artist, DJ, curator, and cultural producer working across XR, music, audiovisual performance, and community organizing. Their practice is rooted in an ongoing investigation of surveillance, migration, and tech ethics — weaving these themes through immersive technology and embodiment.

Intermediate level: Past video editing experience required. Comfortable with Premiere, DaVinci, Final Cut, or Avid.

📑In 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠, “there is an intentionally gendered element to Sachar and Lee’s piece that emphasizes the erasure of women’s contributions in the workplace; [characters in the project] Lauren and Nova hold what are often thought to be female-oriented roles. Just as society has minimized the unseen labour that women have been expected to do as caretakers and housekeepers, it is as if Lauren and Nova are implying that women’s contributions in the workplace can just as easily be ignored.”

「歡迎光臨麟光社」很高興邀請李南屏（Nancy Lee）與 Kiran Bhumber 來分享他們的跨域作品《UNION》，這是一個發生在西元3000年，網路戰摧毀了每個硬碟和電子設備的記憶體之後發生的故事...

在地緣政治動盪與深層科技焦慮充斥的當下，我們可否透過對未來性（futurity）的思考構築富有生命力與可能性的自我/社會探索空間？在這場講座中，溫哥華跨領域藝術家 Nancy Lee 與 Kiran Bhumber 將分享作品 《UNION》 的創作過程，並討論建構未來世（world-building）與多模態場域設計的密切關係。作品講述兩個生命體透過觸碰與一場後末日婚禮儀式，發掘基因記憶的過程；藝術家也藉由離散者的身份，重新審視文化記憶如何透過身體被具象化並成為抗拒（resistance）的一種形式。《UNION》曾以實體展覽，延展實境，現場表演等多種形式呈現，並巧妙的運用科幻與推設敘事（science fiction and speculative fiction）的框架，透過沉浸式媒體與科技探討監控、資源汲取、儀式、文化記憶等主題。

李南屏 Nancy Lee (@whichnancy)
台裔加拿大多媒體藝術家、策展人、導演、DJ 和文化製作人。他的跨界創作涵蓋電影、現場活動、XR、新媒體表演和裝置藝術，著重於透過沉浸式體驗重塑並活化空間，引導參與者思考個人與周遭環境密不可分的多重關係。 他的作品頻繁展出於坎城影展、SXSW、MUTEK（日本，蒙特婁）、柏林國際影展、溫哥華國際爵士音樂節等平臺。

Kiran Bhumber (@kiranbhumber)
印度裔加拿大多媒體藝術家、作曲家、表演者與教育者。她的藝術實踐關注新興科技如何介入記憶，身體又如何將記憶重新銘刻於當下。她的作品多以互動裝置與表演的形式呈現，探討律動、觸覺與表演性。她的創作受邀發表於 MUTEK（日本，蒙特婁）、國際電子藝術研討會（南非、韓國）、SXSW、坎城影展、溫哥華國際爵士音樂節、新音樂介面表演國際會議（澳洲、丹麥）、多倫多國際電子聲響藝術節等國際平台。

These hands are still at work is a collaborative, large-scale video work by media artist Nancy Lee and choreographer, dancer, and actor Simran Sachar. Nancy’s current research interests include surveillance, tech ethics, and platformization of society. Simran’s current research interests include distortion, disappearance, return, and reintegration into community. In their project, migration manifests as an ancient, genetic, rhythmic response for survival. For the artists, migration is movement, movement is change, and change is the only constant. In These hands are still at work, the rhythm of movement becomes the rhythm of labour. The mundane labour of someone else’s life forms the foundation of our leisure. Nancy and Simran introduce to you Lauren and Nova, two AI assistants who are changing the patterns of migration. This project is an original commission by FORM (Festival of Recorded Movement) in partnership with Surrey Art Gallery, as part of the Kinesthesia fall exhibition series.
