Calling 911 is stressful enough. So imagine how difficult it is for people who stutter. But research and observational studies have shown that whispering can help reduce speech disruptions, steady a stutter, and make it easier for them to talk. However, low-volume speech isn’t ideal in an emergency.

That’s why GREY New York, in partnership with STARS, WSN, and INNOVITA, developed Whisper for Help. This emergency services app—currently in beta testing—helps people who stutter get their words out during life-threatening situations. It’s designed to connect to 911 and convert whispered speech into a clear and amplified AI-generated voice within milliseconds.
