2 years ago this album was just a bunch of voice notes, rough demos, and late night conversations about wether we could actually pull it off…

now ‘Over Again’ has been played on radio stations that we grew up listening to, and featured publications we have followed for years

it’s hard to explain how much this means to us as an independent artist, it seems like only yesterday we were busking in the streets

we wouldn’t be here without you, our community… thank you to all the DJs, writers, patrons, kickstarter backers, friends, family, and everyone who is helping to get this music out there and connecting with more people

wether you’ve found us recently or been here since the start, thank you for believing in us and joining us on this wild ride

“one road is ending, another road begins … “

Our third LP, Over Again, is finally here. Believe it or not, this record was made in three studios, across two continents, in-between all the miles of touring we’ve done since arriving in America.

We drove into the path of a solar eclipse to write the title track, it was a time of deep transitions as we began, for the first time, to put roots down in US soil and make a home together.

The rest of these songs were written before that, at a time when visas and borders kept us apart. When being together in the same country was just a dream.

This album was only possible thanks to you, our community. With the generous donations of everyone through Kickstarter, and every penny saved from touring, we headed to Betty’s in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with Alli Blois to lay down drums and guitars.

Then we transformed our tiny house into a makeshift studio to track vocals, guitars, and overdubs. Outside, a massive cicada bloom turned the forest into a deafening choir while we worked through the night, singing into borrowed mics, the walls draped in our clothes and quilts. We worked right up until dawn, finishing just in time to catch our flight to the UK for tour.

The record was finished in Bristol, England, at a beloved studio “Alma Vale” with Luke Cawthra, who’s worked on most of our back catalogue. This was the last project recorded in that historic spot before the landlord evicted them to make more student flats. We were in a race against time, driving to the studio between gigs to add the finishing touches, all while Luke was packing up his instruments and gear into boxes, talk about transitions!

This record exists because of you.

We set out to capture these songs we’d been carrying with us for years, and make something we were proud of. With your support, we were able to do that.

We love you, we are ever grateful for these things we are able to create because of you and we hope you enjoy LP3 :))

We’ll see you this summer across the USA, then in the UK and Spain this autumn. Tickets are on sale now!

Much love,

SAT SEP 19: @ADifferentThread plays The Bar(n) at Sonark Farms!
Wait, let's back up. Alicia Best grew up in North Carolina. Robert Jackson grew up in the UK. They met busking on cobbled streets in Ireland. That origin story is doing a lot of work, and so does their music. They are known for a nostalgic, "modern vintage" sound that blends American roots with British folk influences. Their music is characterized by warm harmonies, raw songwriting about longing and wanderlust, and a minimalist, acoustic-driven style featuring guitars, fiddles, and suitcase drums.
$20 🎟 TICKETS - Link in bio
DATE: Saturday, September 19th
DOORS: 6 pm with food truck

I’ve gotten to know Robert and Alicia @adifferentthread through @ashleyvirginia.music while going through Nashville TN in April. Robert, who is from the UK, met Alicia (from the US) while busking in Ireland. After busking, they went separate ways, but it’s obvious these two were meant to make music together! If you want to hear the magic they create together, listen to their newest album, Over Again!

here’s a little bit about us 🌎 we’d love to know you too! tell us where in the world you’re listening from or how you came across our music

These songs were shaped by long drives, separation, reunions, wanderlust, and believing in a brighter future.

They helped us hold onto hope through uncertain times and we hope they help you remember you’re not alone 💛
