Monte Verde, Costa Rica

I remember the first time I visited a rainforest.
It was the Amazon rainforest.
I was 12 years old. Not knowing what i expected but by far one of my most memorable learning experiences.
My parents taught me a great lesson when i was there. Appreciation..

My brother and I were one of the 1st young tourists they have seen. So we’re both treated with extra care.

I remember meeting a tribe out there.
I was in shock seeing them running around naked while my family and i had clothes on.
My parents put my brother and i aside to explained to us why they lived like this.
That by far was one of the most humbling experiences for me at my age.
After “the talk” the kids came up to us and not even speaking there language we all started playing.
Got messy in the mud, shooting darts out of a pipes, playing with bugs. Teaching me how certain plants can heal.
Trying to teach me how they made material. I loved it 🖤
“Appreciate what you got”

The chief of the tribe was definitely no one to mess around with(although my dad and the chief were chatting it up the whole time we were there).
He had about 5 shrunken heads around his neck and he told us they were from other tribe leaders who tried to attack his territory. (Only a few people spoke Spanish but most spoke their native language.)

I visited this tribe two or three more times.
Each time i saw them they were making more improvements to their village. Most of the people started to wear clothes and they would have people going in and out of the city to bring them stuff. It was not like the 1st time i saw them but still always memorable.

“Appreciate what you got”

The chief of the tribe was definitely no one to mess around with(although my dad and the chief were chatting it up the whole time we were there).
He had about 5 shrunken heads around his neck and he told us they were from other tribe leaders who tried to attack his territory. (Only a few people spoke Spanish but most spoke their native language.)

I visited this tribe two or three more times.
Each time i saw them they were making more improvements to their village. Most of the people started to wear clothes and they would have people going in and out of the city to bring them stuff. It was not like the 1st time i saw them but still always memorable.

Monte Verde, Costa Rica

I remember the first time I visited a rainforest.
It was the Amazon rainforest.
I was 12 years old. Not knowing what i expected but by far one of my most memorable learning experiences.
My parents taught me a great lesson when i was there. Appreciation..

My brother and I were one of the 1st young tourists they have seen. So we’re both treated with extra care.

I remember meeting a tribe out there.
I was in shock seeing them running around naked while my family and i had clothes on.
My parents put my brother and i aside to explained to us why they lived like this.
That by far was one of the most humbling experiences for me at my age.
After “the talk” the kids came up to us and not even speaking there language we all started playing.
Got messy in the mud, shooting darts out of a pipes, playing with bugs. Teaching me how certain plants can heal.
