20 Years... Tired Like Dirt
We’re a little proud to have survived in this music industry for 20 years now and please don’t take the compilation title "Tired Like Dirt“ too literally, even though there is some truth in it we stole it from a Gunner & Smith song.

DevilDuck Records is turning 20 years in 2024 and some might say this has to be celebrated in whatever way……which might be true. Even though we did a label compilation a while ago for our 15th anniversary what makes more sense than coming up with another one as it’s the artists who define the label and not the other way around, right? And that’s what "20 Years - Tired Like Dirt“ is delivering now with 13 artists and bands incl. only one cover and still a lot of newish stuff as we signed 6 (!) of these by last year.

We still do love Canadian artists (Marissa Burwell, Gunner and Smith, The Dead South) and some German ones are always obvious ( Scotch & Water, Palila, Would, Wisent, Merlin Hydes, Kommando Kant) but after quite some time we have started to work with a British band (Conscious Pilot) and some US Americans (The Macks, The Fourth Wall, Timesbold) again.

The running order came up a bit spontaneous which I always like because in the end it all makes sense…so kind of by accident all three bands & artists from Canada are from Saskatchewan and in a row here. Some new stuff is at the beginning of the album and for obvious reasons Timesbold had to close it.

Conscious Pilot is Joe Laycock, Emmy Leishman, Chris McCrory and Jack Sharp. While the band’s identity is a culmination of the differences between each member, they are all bonded by a love of fast, immersive beats and flowing melodies. Featuring members of Cheap Teeth, Catholic Action and Big Girls Blouse, the group was formed in 2023 when songwriters Joe and Jack moved from their native Yorkshire to Glasgow. The band has since been particularly active in the UK’s live music scene, having completed several tours in UK and making their first foray across Europe in 2025, culminating in two highly coveted performances at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival. After releasing two EPs via Devil Duck Records, “Epoxy Plains” and “Wipe Clean”, the band are releasing their debut LP ‘Human Poultry’ on 8th May 2026.

veröffentlichen ihr Debütalbum „Wasting Words“ - das Postcore-Quintett hatte schon vor der ersten Single ‚Fat White Families‘ beim Wacken Open Air und nach der ersten Single beim Reeperbahn Festival gespielt und wird Euch mit ihrer musikalischen „Wand“ überrollen.

kommen aus Portland (Oregon) und sind zum ersten Mal in Europa unterwegs, nachdem ihr neues Album „Bonanza“ Ende September erschienen ist. Das Quintett macht irgendwie „Psych-Rock“, hat aber unglaubliche viele Einflüsse, so dass sie in diese Schublade nicht so recht passen wollen…gilt auch für ihre Buddies von Oh Sees und Wine Lips.

unser Lokallieblinge muss man eigentlich nicht weiter vorstellen, aber wer „klassischen“ Indie-Rock à la Pixies, Guided By Voices, Built To Spill und Dinosaur Jr. mag, wird dieses Trio einfach lieben. Nachdem im April ihr letztes Album „Children Will Be Furious“ erschien, haben sie zumindest eine neue Single im Gepäck.

JERRY LEGER - Mit einem feinen Gespür für Sprache, Melodie und Atmosphäre verbindet der kanadische Musiker Folk, Country und Rock zu Songs von zeitloser Schönheit.
