It’s been a year already since “El Gran Mantell”, our solo exhibition in Badalona for Manifesta 15 and yes, we haven’t shared these photos of the exhibition itself and the some process with you yet. It’s never late to remember and claim waste of city construction as opportunity.

Thanks to @badalonacultura (specially Laura & Ariadna ) @badalona_cat and @manifestabiennial

The exhibition “The Great Mantle” envisioned new futures for inorganic matter, commonly considered

waste. We understand waste as an opportunity. An opportunity for organic and inorganic to interact in a

vast interconnected whole, that reminds us that everything we consume and discard is interconnected in a continuous transformation cycle. The past and present of the city of Badalona are intertwined in a
dialogue about how the human race relates to its coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

Waste, refuse, and garbage are usual terms to refer to what has been discarded, to what has lost its purpose
and to what is no longer useful. Urban solid waste is the tangible vestige of our daily activities, the material remnant of what was once useful and is now left in oblivion.

We explored the interconnection of material waste found both on sand and sea. Through installations and
sculptures, we weave and shape, reconsidering the inherent value of the matter that surrounds us and that we often assume to be mere and useless waste.

Perhaps it is here where waste, as vibrant matter, can emerge as a new opportunity.

Thanks for the support and your beautiful work both to Carlos @delamorylabelleza & Ikram @abha.studio

Many thanks to all of you that helped us to make it real and special thanks to our forever best assistant always Jordi Simón.

"Homo Sapiens specie is heterotrophic, omnivorous of space and non-food energy. Has been able to learn and transmit its knowledge more rapidly. None of these facts gives it the right to extinguish any form of life, a legacy for future generations." 🦈 🐚 🐟 🐠 🦀

While studying ecology we came across this sentence, a bit too obvious but always good to remember.
