NEW CLASS! 🔔 Beginner Flexibility with @macysmartz begins September 24th!

In this beginner flexibility class, you’ll build a strong foundation for safe, effective stretching. You’ll work on splits, straddles, and shoulder/back mobility while learning proper form and technique. Each class combines active stretching with strength-building exercises and proper muscle engagement to improve your range of motion, build coordination, and avoid injury.

No experience required!

6-week session:
• Wednesdays 7:30-8:30am
• Sept 24th - Oct 29th

“Macy began her circus journey as a youth student at Versatile Arts, where she discovered her passion for aerial arts and eventually began teaching. In 2020-2021, she spent a year training at the San Diego Circus School as a part of their preparatory program before moving back to the PNW. Her deep love for aerial straps, rope, contortion, and hand balancing that has shaped the last decade of her life. Macy recently move to Bellingham and has expanded her community, now teaching not only at New Moon Movement Arts in Seattle but also at Cabaret Atelier, Bellingham Aerial and Dance, and most recently the Bellingham Circus Guild.

After undergoing major hip surgeries to correct hip dysplasia on both hips, Macy is thrilled to be back in the air. This performance at Emerald City Trapeze marks not just her second show since recovery, but a celebration of the resilience that defines both individual artists and our circus community as a whole.
When not training or teaching, Macy can be found hiking, swimming, and experimenting with new recipes.”

Intro To Contortion @opolestudios ✨️✨️

Intro to Contortion: Begin your contortion journey now if you are interested in accessing advanced flexibility shapes on the pole!

This workshop will introduce foundational flexibility skills through forward folding, splits, shoulder opening, and back bending. We'll focus on active flexibility development, play with various shapes and bridge variations, and finish with targeted conditioning and a cool down.

Prerequisites:

- Ability to bend forward and touch your toes

- Ability to push up into a bridge from the ground

- Please inform the instructor of any past or current injuries prior to class

Perfect for those curious about contortion or looking to safely expand their flexibility practice. All levels welcome within the prerequisites!

This 2 hr. workshop is $60 + tax per person

✨️✨️Meet Your Contortion Coach: Macy Smart-Zimmerman
Macy Smart-Zimmerman is a contortionist and aerial straps artist with over 3.5 years of professional coaching experience. A graduate of San Diego Circus Center's preparatory program (2020), she has been teaching contortion and aerial arts at New Moon Movement Arts (previously Versatile Arts).

Macy's teaching approach emphasizes safe progression and proper technique, creating a supportive environment where students build confidence and consistently surprise themselves with their capabilities.

When not in the studio, Macy can be found hiking the Pacific Northwest, experimenting with new recipes, or furthering her own circus training.
