It’s not just about delivering 115 new homes, but about how those proposals have been shaped along the way. Residents and stakeholders influenced the outcome, helping ensure the new homes will meet local demand and create an inclusive, accessible neighbourhood.

Priorities such as green community space, biodiversity, parking and traffic, and the future of historic assets – such as the former Lock Keeper’s Cottage – were brought into sharper focus through the engagement process.
 
That’s the difference. When engagement is done well, it moves beyond consultation. It helps create places that reflect the people who will live there, not just plans on paper.
 
Working as part of a brilliant team, we’re proud to have supported the community engagement programme that helped shape the proposals. We look forward to seeing East Bank continue to take shape.

We’re delighted to share that ‘Our Future Dewsbury’ has been shortlisted for the Community Engagement prize at the prestigious Pineapples Awards 2026. 🍍

The category celebrates projects that meaningfully involve residents in urban design and development. This nomination reflects the care and dedication of everyone involved in ensuring the communities of Dewsbury remain front and centre in shaping the town’s long-term regeneration.

Counter Context's Leigh B and Clare Birch will be attending the Transport Development Planning conference hosted by LandorLINKS on Thursday 4th December at Regent's Park Conference Centre in London.

The discussion will focus on the revised National Planning Policy Framework, which advocates for transport to be considered in the earliest stages of plan-making and development proposals, using a vision-led approach.
