The Pivotal Moment 💫

my directing debut - trust the process

In the production of this video, I aimed to ingrain each story with a vividness that captures the very essence of how one’s faith can connect one to their innermost self. My focus was on pivotal moments, those catalysts for change that arises in countless ways, be it through friendship, loss, upbringing, or simply curiosity. I sought to reveal how these transformative instants are as diverse as those who experience them, and how, inevitably, they arise organically. With this video, I hope to offer a touching and thought-provoking reflection of the world that surrounds us and a glimpse into the profound ways in which our lives can be forever altered.

This one meant a lot. When SAFE asked if we could pull off a video in under a month, I said yes instantly. The first time I heard ‘On Me,’ it made me think about community, friendship, and the people who raise us. It felt like a reflection of everything that shapes you the good, the bittersweet, and what you never really leave behind.

We spent an evening in the studio just talking, and the direction formed naturally. I chose to shoot on Super 8 because the song felt like flipping through old memories. I recreated pieces of his past, the boys sharing poutine from Bellissimo's, brothers sparring in the park, and the kite scene symbolizing him leaving the city while still leaving a part of himself behind.

In this post, I wanted to share a few pieces of the process, from the BTS moments to the beautiful colour work that brought everything to life. This one meant a lot. When SAFE asked if we could pull off a video in under a month, I said yes instantly. The first time I heard ‘On Me,’ it made me think about community, friendship, and the people who raise us. It felt like a reflection of everything that shapes you the good, the bittersweet, and what you never really leave behind.

We spent an evening in the studio just talking, and the direction formed naturally. I chose to shoot on Super 8 because the song felt like flipping through old memories. I recreated pieces of his past, the boys sharing poutine from Bellissimo's, brothers sparring in the park, and the kite scene symbolizing him leaving the city while still leaving a part of himself behind.

In this post, I wanted to share a few pieces of the process, from the BTS moments to the beautiful colour work that brought everything to life. Huge thank you to Helton for locking in for post production with me through those late-night sessions and helping shape the video into exactly what I imagined.

Yo. Lemme tell you somting, I kid you not although this video came out pretty cool, shooting this had me discombobulated.

Firstly the amount of accidental False takes we did😐, a one too many. (For those who live in the city) Obviously this was shot in Yorkville, on bloor street, which was ridiculously busy. And because we thought we were some big dawgs we thought we could do this during RUSH HOUR.

But anyways It came out nice.

Hoodsht, a fun super run and gun video we made a few hours after wrapping our first music video set for MSW.

I like challenges, and this video was a challenge in its self. We were trying our best to get this video shot in under 2 hours to avoid the gas station clerk from calling the cops on us for loitering.

Played around a with angles, movement on sticks and a bit of handheld shots;also to enhance the video a bit more, I tried adding some funky vfx and sound design to keep your attention going.

Disclaimer - my camera took a dust bath on set before we started shooting this, which is why my lens looks dirty in certain shots😅
