We’ve been watching the world end in high definition. Scrolling past the destruction. The fires. Streaming the floods. The apocalypse has become ambient, a thing that plays in the background while we look for something better to watch.

This poem projects the earth onto the ruins we’ve made while we were looking away. A reminder that the real world is still here. That the walls we’ve built are still doors. And the ones we’ve been waiting for have been us, all along.

Happy Earth Day. Please share this. Not because sharing anything saves the world—but because nothing moves through the algorithm without hearts and minds carrying it, and a film nobody sees is just another thing the dark swallowed.

But waiting
is a dangerous game
We’re all headed
for the grave someday
Wading through these plays
we stage
But what are we waiting for?
If we’re the sages
We can save this place
Let’s sage this space
Maybe we’re our saving grace?
And we’re the ones
that we’ve been waiting for?
If the walls aren’t real
And the world’s all doors
Then we can change
the way this goes
And we’ve got a ways to go
So, what are we waiting for?
Away we go
These plagues won’t go away
On their own
But if we change our ways

is whirled
by words
Like spores
we hurl them
to the wind
To bloom
like primrose
in the night
Upon imagination’s wings
And thoughts
are like a breeze
That whispers
sweetly on the mind
Until the lips
obey the call
So they might
navigate though time
And instincts
are like drumbeats
We know
the path
to march
Our fate’s
beneath our feet
And we arrive
as we depart
And truth
is just like music
How harmonious
her song is
The notes
spell out the tune
That casts
the light
into the darkness
And love
is all the rest
And if we read
between the lines
We see that love
in any language
is the word
that writes our lives

It’s about that Time…

Ode is coming back to @libfestival

Who’s coming?

Funny story: last year at LIB, we were onstage at the @grandartique performing our track ‘Time’ when out of the audience comes @steeleism holding a piece of her artwork: a small cage, with the neon word ‘Time’ emblazoned in the center.

We’d never met, but she walked up to the stage and handed it to me—and it sat up on stage with us for the rest of the show.

Moments later, I’m told, an owl flew by directly overhead. A wise man once said, “either everything is a miracle or nothing is…”

It’s gotta be everything.

true colors
Aren’t the hues
