This photo was taken at @shankrafestival , who puts on a sparkling guise of valuing artists, but in reality sadly does not credit or compensate artists whose pictures they use for marketing, as well as under-compensating and not keeping their word to many of their artists. But hey, if you’re a performer of any kind, unfortunately you know this is nothing new 🤷🏻‍♂️
Instead of ranting or holding onto anger, we artists have to learn from these situations, learn to stand up for and defend the value of our time and skills. And honestly for me, and I think for many artists, this is the most challenging and difficult part of our path. More than facing the physical fear of a backflip, spitting a huge flame from my mouth, or training 10-12hrs/day for months on end. But it is also perhaps the most important part of being an artist, understanding the value of those unseen, unrecognized thousands of hours put into building those skills that culminate in that fleeting 20 minutes of public performance.
So if you’re an artist, know, value, and assert your worth. Decide what your skills and creations are worth, and if a client doesn’t want to meet that, don’t waste your time doing things for free/undervalue and keep space open for well-compensated gigs! Protect your agreements, write and sign contracts for your work. If your work or image is used for advertising and marketing, you are legally entitled to compensation in many countries (unless agreed otherwise in a contract).
If you’re hiring artists, remember that you’re not just paying for the performance/artwork, you’re paying for the countless hours of hard work that made the performance/artwork possible. If you use their work or image to attract clients and make more profits, compensate them for that. Not too crazy of a concept, is it?

In the midst of it all, I think of P@lest!ne right now, where the night of !srael’s w@r machine brings destruction instead of celebration, and the morning is uncertain.

One day, they packed a bag, left everything behind, to join the circus eventually becoming a circus monk. 🧘🏼

What followed wasn’t performance. It is an identity. A deep dive into clowning and their deeper research in studying it to understand all of its origins and its history; which is nothing on the surface but holds something much deeper.

A contradiction of society to mirror us in ways we feel vulnerable, honest and real.

That perspective didn’t stay in the circus, it reshaped how Phoenix moves through everyday life. 🤡🎪💃🕺🔥

Surprise! I got engaged to my best friend last weekend… 🥹💍🐸💘😭✨

I proposed to Phoenix in the most epic and grand gesture of love I could muster… a surprise immersive theater live-action-role-play scavenger hunt through the forest and beach of the Baltic Sea in Poland, including 10 of our incredible beautiful best friends as the cast (more pix and details of this to come) 🦄🧚🏼‍♀️✨🍄🌲🌊 with rings created by our best friend Adrian from crystals that my brother mined himself… ❤️‍🔥‼️😭💖😭💖😭💍

My heart has never been so full! What can I say… 4.5 years of pure joy, magic, laughter, love, growth, learning, playfulness, creativity, pushing each other to be our best selves, holding each other when we’re our worst selves, and discovering endless new selves along the way - whom we grow to love even more and more and more (although it seems impossible, the heart does continue to grow, somehow!)

Sometimes, often, Phoenix and I take a step back to just gape in awe at each other, at the miracle that we were brought together among the millions of people and places on this planet, that a blip in the folds of this universe somehow conspired to bring us together. It’s hard to explain how perfect we are for each other, even we still can’t believe it. The pure luck that we’ve found our perfect counterpart in this world… the one in a million chance… it’s the biggest gift the universe could have ever given us. 🪐🌌

I never thought I’d say that, but… I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this human. Intertwined in our sacred union of love. Phoenix Rose, you have my heart forever and ever. It never felt as safe as it does with you.

A little trip into our universe 🌀🪐🍬 Looking back on our biggest projects from the past few years, we are really proud to share this sizzle reel showcasing bits and pieces of some of the most iconic PHANTAZONiA moments to date 💥

From building giant art labyrinths and installations at conferences across Europe, to creating our own fantasy lands and adult playgrounds in and around Berlin, it’s been a wild ride of world-building and an explosion of colors, textures, stardust and dreams 🌋🌈💗

The most special part of this universe we’ve created is all of the people, aliens, creatures, and angels we’ve had the pleasure and honour to connect with, inspire, and be inspired by. Deep transformations have occurred, hearts have been opened, senses have been tantalised, visions mesmerised. Our way of art is a two way street, every single being who enters PHANTAZONiA, whether as an artist or a guest, adds something in their own unique way.

This is the magic of imagining and inventing new worlds together which makes all the unicorn blood and frog tears worth it, and pushes us to new heights. 🦄🐸🫶
