No, this is not April Fools… A FLOATING POOL IS COMING TO THE EAST RIVER

We met up with the team actually making it happen @pluspoolny

They’re building a real pool that floats in the river and filters the water so people can actually swim in it safely. First section is already in the works. @newyorkers.live

As part of our capacity building efforts we were able to offer one of our Bluefish after school lifeguards, Lucas, the chance to become an instructor after he was inspired seeing the instructors in the program. Today he teaching his first class!

Nice group formation, so he can see and respond to everyone. That’s all part of @americanredcross WSI training.

Earth Day Festival 2026 was a blast🌎Even though the weather wasn’t on our side, we had so many guests visit us and share their dreams for a swimmable city! It was great to see the other orgs at the festival and learn about other missions to make our city and plant a better place♻️Thank you to everyone who stopped by, wrote a postcard, or shared their dreams with us on our tapestry🌊

Come spend a Saturday treating yourself with members of the + POOL Community as we explore Governors Island on bikes, and cruise the car‑free paths with those stunning views of the harbor and the skyline. Along the way, we’ll stop by Billion Oyster Project’s giant shell pile—the mountain of oyster shells NYC restaurants have saved from the trash—to see where they’re cleaned, cured, and prepped to become future oyster reefs. Participants can board the Ferry at Pier 6 (Atlantic Avenue) in Brooklyn, or from the Battery Maritime Terminal in Manhattan. Citibikes are available on the island! Spots are limited, and priority will be given to Monthly Lappers.
