Cañada College Art Gallery is pleased to present Strange / Familiar, a solo exhibition by Oakland-based painter Wardell McNeal.
McNeal creates layered figurative works set against abstract landscapes, where color and form blur the boundaries between figure and ground. His paintings are built up through layers of acrylic on canvas, creating a visual push and pull between figure and environment that is both immediate and immersive.
