I often get approached by labels with the usual: “we’d love to hear your new demos.” It’s tempting to have experienced help and financial support, but the concept of Sound of Fractures was always about independence. To own everything. That was my challenge, but also my “why.” After years of making music for others and leaving the final say to luck and other people, I wanted freedom.
The reality is I still need money to invest, but I was lucky to find a community of people who were looking for more from music. People who wanted to connect more deeply, who wanted to support it in ways that went beyond just streaming. Without those people, I wouldn’t be where I am now, and definitely wouldn’t still be independent.
That’s the truth: the music I make can only stay as free as it has with your support. SCENES raised enough to make something unique and participatory that could never have happened through traditional funding. And it showed me what’s possible when people invest not just in music, but in the world around it.
For the Alone Together EP, I’ve already been lucky to find one Executive Producer in @cxy , who’s been supporting this next season of music and world building experiments. If you’d like to find out more about becoming part of that process and helping shape what comes next, get in touch.
This is more than music. It’s about building a world around it together.

Un-mute?
It’s crazy that over 80% of people use socials on mute, well it’s crazy if you’re a musician. So is your goal to get people to unmute if you want them to hear your music?
For me going back the the basics of communicate what I am and where I fit has become so important

Getting lost in the music 🫂❤️🪩
Alone Together is the opening song from the self titled EP coming this June and I’ve just started rehearsing it for the first time. It hit me that like most artists you are excited about the new songs but no one has heard them, so I thought I’d start sharing more of the process of working on the live show, so when the EP and show happen more people will know a couple of the new ones.
This song encapsulates the ethos of the whole project, and how it came about is a story I’ll save for another day but.. a huge thank you to @_annadip who’s voice you can hear, she send me a beautiful honest voice note that arrived on a day where I was creatively just not feeling it, and when I pressed play on the dm I instantly start messing around on the keys and something happened. So thanks for letting me put this out.. I can’t wait to share the full version when the EP hits!
You can pre-save the whole EP now and tickets are up for the Alone Together event and live show too, both happening the same week in June

7 books that reshaped my relationship with my career, creativity and technology.
Not my bible. Just books that inspired and influenced me along the way. None of them changed my life in one go, but taken together they’ve reshaped how I see myself, what I want my career to look like, how I communicate, and where I put my energy online.
They’re not really books about how to be creative — they’re more about the life and the networks around it. The career, for want of a better word. The platforms, the communities, the technology, the strange shape that being a creative person has taken in this version of the internet.

This June come and be a part of something different..
We are building a space that’s all about authentic connection: deep listening and time to reflect, stripped down performances, talks, conversation and connecting, visual works and immersive screens.. and my debut show in the evening!
Come and be a part of the experiment, you can come and go, find the time and space that works for you, all set in a beautiful purpose built room that you can feel part of rather than as a customer.
Guest performers to be announced in the build up
There will even be some free drinks as we know how expensive taking part in anything can be :)
June 27th Rich Mix London - ticket links are in bio now!

Incase you are looking for your next read :)
The music industry is awash with terrible takes and content designed to push major label narratives, these are my go-to substack newsletters for staying genuinely up to date through knowledgeable, thoughtful people working in and around music.
Music X by Maarten Walraven
My fav newsletter, it balances new knowledge, critical takes, guest writer all with a artist first approach and a love of independent music
Emwhitenoise by Emily White
She does great writing that creates research to gather ideas from the people on the ground
Network Notes by Darren Hemings
Great writing that is always ahead of thebro takes and slop without bowing down to popular commercial industry narratives
Yancey Strickler
Yancey is doing so much at the moment that isn’t music focussed but has a deep care for future of all creative careers at its heart, it crosses over into internet culture and theory too.
Penny Fractions by David Turner
This is one of the best newsletters there has been and although is not posting anymore the archive still feels way ahead of the current curve.
Comment “reads” and I’ll dm you the links to all of these!
If you’re an artist who’s felt boxed in by the available paths, or someone who’s curious about what music events could be if we designed them differently, I hope you’ll follow along.
I’m building the career I actually want. Let’s see what happens.

I don’t normally post full Substack posts on here, but I got so many DMs about this yesterday I thought I should share it here for those that are not signed up to my newsletter yet.
I’m always grappling with my relationship with creativity and how that fits with my day to day life, and I’ve become interested in it in others too, especially as there are so many of us now that have a creative passion. How we make sense of ourselves, the things we love doing and the challenges of day to day life I think are becoming more and more important to surviving or thriving in modern life. Writing about that has really helped me. It’s not something I ever imagined doing, and I do find a sense of purpose in it being read by others and it being useful in some ways. So thanks for the messages, they keep me going, and if you are interested in reading more about building a creative life in the modern world, then hit the link in bio and subscribe. Or better yet come to the Alone Together event in June, tickets are up now and only £10.

It feels like something is shifting…
We’re surrounded by more music, more content, more people than ever…but the spaces that used to create real connection have quietly disappeared.
People are stepping back from social media.
Going back to physical formats.
Looking for smaller, more intentional experiences.
Not everything needs to scale.
Not everything needs to be frictionless.
Some things are better when you have to lean in.
Over the last few years I’ve been trying to understand what that means for music.
Not just how we listen… but how we experience it together.
Alone Together is my attempt at that.
A live experience built around a simple question:
can music, memory and space still create real human connection?
I’m doing this independently, no manger, no agent and a few core supporters helping make it happen. Grab a ticket, support the experiment, pass though say hi, lie down take some time for you, meet new people, have interesting conversations, hear new music, dance and forget the world.
Come and be part of the experiment and let’s see what we can learn together - London, June 27th
Shout out to @cxy for being the first executive producer of the event concept and supporting its R&D 🙏
Too many people to credit in the screen shots 🤷♂️I colate and screen shot things that connect and /or make me think, here are some of those that have led me to Alone Together. Shout out to those that have influenced me.
Comment if you want to know what any of these are pr who they are by.

“There Is Much More Appetite for Genuine Connection”@sofractures
Connection used to happen almost accidentally – through shared spaces, routines, small overlaps in everyday life. And in a way, those opportunities are still there. We pass people every day, exist side by side, move through the same places – yet rarely cross that invisible line into actual connection.
Instead, much of what we experience becomes something to frame, to share, to turn into attention. The beautiful, the uncomfortable, the in-between – everything slowly shifts into something curated. And attention, more often than not, becomes its own kind of currency.
With Alone Together, producer and multidisciplinary artist @sofractures gently questions this disconnect. The project actively designs interaction between strangers – not because connection isn’t possible, but because it often needs a moment, a reason, an invitation to actually happen. It creates spaces where people don’t just coexist, but meet.
We spoke with him about building environments for connection, the role of music in bringing people closer, and why meaningful encounters might need to be created just as intentionally as the systems that have replaced them.

This week I sat down to announce that tickets were on sale for Alone Together, but instead ended up going a bit deeper and wanting to share about what it’s like trying to promote and build things that don’t fit into neat categories. The issue is that you want to do something different and interesting that makes it feel unique and stand out, and people love that in principle, but when you actually come to sell tickets or find sponsors it becomes really hard, because we are all used to behaving in certain ways and consuming through social media. So I’m constantly coming up against this challenge and wanted to explain it through launching alone together.

Anonstories oferuje doskonałe rozwiązanie do ukrywania swojej tożsamości.
