The BPL is inviting artists of all ages to take part in a Library Card Design contest in celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month this September!
🎨 How does it work?
One adult (18+), one teen (13-17), and one youth (0-12) winner will have their original artwork featured on official BPL cards in circulation during 2026-2027.
👥 Who can enter?
The contest is open to all BPL cardholders, with one entry permitted per person.
🖌️ What do you submit?
An original design that reflects what the library means to you and your community — perhaps an interpretation of our motto “Free to All”?
The contest will run from May 15 through June 15, 2026. Good luck!

📜For the first time ever, the BPL’s eight rare printings of the Declaration are displayed together, inviting visitors to step into a moment when American independence, and the nation itself, was still taking shape.
📍The exhibition is free to all and is located at the Leventhal Map & Education Center at the Central Library, @bplmaps.
