A Frontier plane fatally struck a pedestrian in Denver as it was taking off for Los Angeles Friday night, according to the airline and Denver International Airport.

The Airbus A321 was taking off from Denver and departing for Los Angeles when the person crossed the runway around 11:19 p.m., according to statements issued by Frontier Airlines and the Denver airport.

The airport said that the person was killed in the collision. The person, who has not been identified, jumped the airport’s perimeter fence and was hit two minutes later while crossing the runway, the airport said.

According to Frontier, smoke was reported in the cabin after the collision. The pilot reported an engine fire and canceled takeoff. Passengers were evacuated using slides, then bussed back to the terminal.

A rabid beaver attacked an 8-year-old boy who was fishing with his family at Lake Henry in Mahwah, New Jersey, this weekend. Police say the boy was bitten in the leg after the animal exited the water and charged him on shore. His family and small dog can be seen scrambling to defend him, finally pulling the aggressive animal off of him and tossing it back into the lake. The boy was then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in New York.

“God’s hand was on all of us”: Dramatic video from last month shows Oklahoma high school principal Kirk Moore tackling a gunman who law enforcement said intended to conduct a Columbine-type attack. Moore was shot in the leg, but because of his actions, no other faculty or students were hurt.

In an exclusive network interview, the principal being hailed as a hero told @mattgutman about redirecting donations to his students and acting on instinct when he heard the first shots fired: “I can’t explain why I did what I did. I think many, many people would have done the same thing. They just don’t realize it.”

Gas prices are topping an average of $4.52 a gallon in the U.S., as a deal with Iran remains out of sight, after President Trump called the Islamic Republic’s latest offer “totally unacceptable.”

For the first time, amid rising global oil and gas prices, the Trump administration floated the idea of pausing the national gas tax, which would save drivers roughly 18 cents a gallon — but cost the federal government about $500 million each week.

An American citizen on a repatriation flight began showing symptoms of hantavirus and another “tested mildly PCR positive for the Andes virus” after being evacuated from the cruise ship that was hit with the deadly outbreak, the Department of Health and Human Services said Sunday night.

Both passengers were “travelling in the plane’s biocontainment units out of an abundance of caution,” HHS said. The passenger who tested positive was not experiencing symptoms, according to a statement from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where the Americans are headed.
