The goal was to achieve the perfect mix of handcraft and technology; something that felt visceral, while still functioning as a wearable accessory.

The form was developed through a combination of hand-carving and 3D modeling, allowing the team to balance organic texture with the precision needed to house an internal mechanical system. The heart form was first carved in wax by @jakealfonzo, then cast in brass and finished with hand-worked detailing. Its surface was treated to mimic the subtle variations found in muscle and tissue.

Wearing an archival couture piece from Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2010 collection, “Mexico.”

I was drawn to its architectural nature… it creates form, not just silhouette. The body becomes part of the design, a living sculpture in motion.

For the styling, creative genius @carlosalonsoparada_ and I were inspired by Frida Kahlo… her ability to transform pain into powerful art. In collaboration with @chrishabana & @cameronhughes we created a custom beating heart bag, symbolizing vulnerability, strength, and resilience.

Hand painted backdrop, curtains, and incredible set design by @damnsam_creative & @amandajanevalentine

2010 Gaultier couture collection draws from Mexican heritage - mariachi influences, indigenous craftsmanship, and layered historical references… adding depth and cultural storytelling. It feels especially personal, reflecting my own European and Latin roots.

CHRISHABANA worked with stylist @jan.quammie on creating an ancient Egyptian–inspired shoulder embellishment for Russell Wilson’s Brandon Blackwood @brandonblackwoodnyc coat.

The design elements were rooted in Black and African royalty. The piece was laser-cut from 22-gauge brass, finished with satin gold plating, and detailed with hand-sewn Preciosa navettes.
