✨ New Works Artist Highlight ✨ Kyle Ragsdale presents his new work, Folklórico, alongside four other Indiana artists on May 30. Tickets are free but limited. Reserve today at TheCenterPresents.org/NewWorksPremiere.

Folklórico, Kyle Ragsdale’s winning visual arts piece for the New Works program, explores Mexican culture and highlights its contributions to life here in the Midwest. The concept was inspired by a mariachi and folklórico dance performance that took place here last year. Witnessing the collaboration between musicians and dancers to create something so harmonious and beautiful felt awe-inspiring, timely and important.

Following the unveiling, the painting will hang in the Payne & Mencias Palladium’s South Lobby for one year, to be viewed by thousands of patrons and other visitors.

The band has opened for jazz legend Branford Marsalis, performed at Carmel Jazz Fest, and backed esteemed Indianapolis vocalists Goldie, Marielle Sellars, Blair Clark and other notable artists. Their 2023 debut single “Steppin’” is available on all major streaming platforms.

✨ New Works Artist Highlight ✨ Justin David Sears premieres his new work, Edges of Insanity, alongside four other Indiana artists on May 30. Tickets are free but limited. Reserve today at TheCenterPresents.org/NewWorksPremiere.

Sears is a dancer, choreographer and founder of Justin Sears Dance Foundation. His contemporary dance project explores addiction recovery through embodied storytelling, video projections and recorded testimonials to interpret the real-life experiences of individuals who have journeyed through substance abuse to recovery. Created in collaboration with Margo Korn, Amanda Hoover, Pulse Dance Theatre and Avenues Recovery Center Indianapolis, the piece portrays a progression from isolation and suffering to community and hope, aiming to reduce stigma while highlighting the transformative power of recovery communities.
