We’re suing over the president’s latest illegal executive order attempting to limit access to mail-in voting. We defeated the last anti-voter executive order in court, and we will defeat this one, too. The Constitution is clear: The president does not have authority over our elections.
The executive order attempts to create a national voter registry using faulty data, exert unlawful control over the U.S. Postal Service, and dictate who can vote by mail and how. These actions could prevent millions of Americans from using the mail to cast their ballots. The president doesn’t have the authority to do any of this. Only the states and Congress have the power to regulate elections, not the president.
Despite that, the president’s latest executive order is another unlawful attempt to limit access to mail-in voting, even though voting by mail is a safe, secure and accessible way relied on by millions of Americans — including the president himself — to cast their ballots.
Campaign Legal Center is suing alongside Democracy Defenders Fund on behalf of LULAC, Secure Families Initiative and Arizona Students’ Association.

This AAPI Heritage Month, we honor the legacy of Wong Kim Ark, whose landmark Supreme Court case affirmed what the 14th Amendment guarantees: All those born in the U.S. are citizens. Nearly 130 years later, that right is being challenged.

The Department of Justice’s attempts to seize sensitive voter data — combined with the administration’s push for a national voter database built on faulty, outdated information — will undoubtedly lead to eligible voters being wrongfully disenfranchised, explains Campaign Legal Center Renata O’Donnell.

Campaign Legal Center is suing to block Florida’s new illegal congressional map. The new gerrymandered map was deliberately drawn to favor one party, with the explicit goal of eliminating four districts held by Democrats — directly violating the Fair Districts Amendments in the state constitution.
Elections should be determined by voters, not politicians who manipulate voting maps for their own political gain. We’re suing to prevent this unfair map from going into effect and to ensure all Floridians can make their voices heard this election year and beyond.

The Supreme Court's decision in Louisiana v. Callais has opened the door for states and localities to enact discriminatory voting maps. This decision contradicts the text of the Voting Rights Act, the will of Congress and the Constitution. It's one of the most consequential setbacks for our multiracial democracy in a generation.
But it is not the end of the fight. Campaign Legal Center will continue using every tool at our disposal to fight for fair representation and protect every American’s freedom to vote.

This Law Day, Campaign Legal Center remains steadfast in our commitment to defending the rule of law and political freedoms and safeguarding constitutional checks and balances.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan dissenting in Louisiana v. Callais in today's devastating decision for the Voting Rights Act.

President Trump's latest executive order purporting to restrict mail-in voting and upend our election systems is blatantly unconstitutional.
We'll see him in court.

The first quarter of campaign finance reports of the 2026 election cycle are here, and big money is already pouring in.
At Campaign Legal Center, we analyze this data for trends and red flags so we can take legal action if campaign finance laws are broken. We’ll continue digging into these records to hold powerful interests accountable.

Today, the House Ethics Committee will be deciding on sanctions for Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, after finding that she committed multiple campaign finance law violations, including participating in an elaborate straw-donor scheme to funnel over $750,000 in illegal campaign donations that originated from a foreign government.
Accountability for both Cherfilus-McCormick and all parties involved in this scheme is critical — and it is crucial that the FEC exercises its responsibility to enforce federal campaign finance law. Read more about our new complaint at the link in our bio.

VICTORY: As a result of our lawsuit, Virginia has agreed to NOT illegally purge voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections and future federal elections. Campaign Legal Center and our partners sued to block Virginia's illegal purge program that disproportionately impacted naturalized citizens before the 2024 election.
This is a major victory for our clients and Virginia voters, who can rest assured that they will not be illegally removed from the voter rolls on the eve of future federal elections.
