This week on ‘Round Midnight, @jaskayser is sitting in for Soweto, and welcomes legendary drummer and personal hero Louis Hayes as her guest from Monday to Thursday.

In his over seventy year performing career so far, Louis has worked with fellow greats of the music including McCoy Tyner, Cannonball Adderley, Yusef Lateef, Horace Silver, and John Coltrane to name a few, and is a formidable bandleader in his own right.

In this special edition of 4/4, Louis chooses four of the albums from his back catalogue that have been meaningful to him.

JAS KAYSER (UK)

Jas Kayser is a highly sought-after drummer and true musician’s musician, respected across the contemporary jazz world and beyond. She has toured with Jorja Smith, released her debut EP Jas 5ive in 2022 followed by her own European tour, and joined Lenny Kravitz’s Blue Electric Light world tour in 2024. Alongside constant touring, she continues to create new music for upcoming releases. Her dynamic project Jas and Chums has earned awards, festival appearances, and major media support. Jas has received nominations including MOBO Best Jazz Act, the Composers Award, and Modern Drummer’s Up & Coming Drummer. Jas will be gracing the Dynamo stage, honouring the space with her unmistakable energy, virtuosity, and fearless musical spirit.
