FRIDAY MARCH 7TH. WALL CELEBRATION/ART PARTY!
Our Friend and Talented Local Artist @kerffinks blessed our walls and dedicated his piece to Ted Mack of Peoples Brewing Company in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Though Ted had carefully planned for the historic acquisition of People's Beer, he underestimated the subtle bigotry of Middle America, the corruption of the beer industry and the failures of the federal government that plagued his ownership. Mack's ownership of Peoples Brewing is an inspirational story of Black entrepreneurship. innovation and pride at a time when America was at an important racial justice crossroads. Thank you Kerff for educating us on an excellent and important person of beer culture. Come celebrate Kerffs art on our walls for the pop up art show March 7th sponsored by @niche.brands.nyc. stay tuned for more info! #blackhistory #beerculture #dbawallsnyc @d.b.a.eastvillage .

Painted a mural for the New Museum Summer exhibitions. The showcases are really great and I encourage anyone with the time to give it a look

Did this piece years ago for a....doesn't matter. Was never paid for it and never turned over a working quality image so I kept it in my computer where it never saw any exposure til today. I actually really liked this piece and I guess the unfortunate experience around it made me unwilling to put it out there. It's definitely a direction that I thought I would build on with my art but it feels like I've taken more of a hiatus in terms of creativity and individuality. I'm hoping that part of me comes back soon. In the meantime enjoy this, this not so old thing.

This took....an embarrassingly long time for me. Glad it’s done now. It’s an addition to a previous piece picturing black folks just, “living”. Normalizing our existence is important to me and any depiction of of black people existing even while in the most mundane of activities is progress. That being said I think would like to explore something with more movement next time. Definitely pushing my digital painting chops so I can pump more work like this faster, hope ya like it.

So I’m doing more digital paintings and non digital paintings nowadays (haven’t put those up, maybe on another channel) and I felt particularly inspired to make this piece because last weekend I didn’t make it out a women’s march held by @freedommarchnyc I genuinely felt weird about not going so I thought about making a piece that highlights Black Women by just showing their existence and right to do so freely. @freedommarchnyc is all female POC led protest group that have been hard at work addressing the challenges that our community faces and are clearly passionate about their mission. I’ve learned a lot attending their demonstrations and if you live in the NYC metro area check em out. Anyway as far as art goes, more of these types of stuff to come of course, I took a break this week from social media to finish it and I think it helped but I think I can do better. My goal is further accept my talent as my voice and push it as far as I can without getting overwhelmed. With that being said, I got little sleep so I hope you guys enjoy this direction and til next post.

Portraits of John Lewis

John Lewis (1940-2020) was the very example of triumph through perseverance. As a young man he was a leader of the Students Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and went on to be one of the original freedom riders who protested for integration in interstate bus terminals. He marched with doctor King and voiced a powerful speech that criticized racial injustice and demanded serious change at a time where words like his would have been perceived as particularly dangerous and aggressive. After enduring the beatings (not limited to the march on Selma where suffered a fractured skull) and threats after adopting nonviolence as legitimate means of protest Lewis eventually made his way to government in his later years. He put his years of knowledge and protest to use while on the seat for the U.S House of Representatives for Georgia and was often considered to be a conscience figure.

I’m in no way a historian on his achievements but I’m in awe of what John Lewis accomplished in his lifetime and the more I learn about him and prominent members of the civil rights movement of the 60s the more I see correlation to the present day. People tend to put these pioneers on a pedestal as the ones who did it “right” (they do deserve credit for sure) but so much of what is done then mirrors our current practices of nonviolent protest and leadership through young and powerful voices.

I’m deeply sad at the loss of such an important voice in Congress at a time where renewed acts of prejudice and aggressive law enforcement has become normalized. But I’m hopeful learning that John Lewis left a legacy that is being carried on to this day by every protest and every voice that speaks against the subjugation of marginalized people. Rest in power to John Lewis and here’s to a brighter future.

On July 6th 2016 Philando Castile, a law abiding citizen was gunned down in broad daylight by a Minnesota police officer. Castile aware of the history of violence between law enforcement and black men took every precaution to prevent his demise and was still murdered in front of his family, his four year old was in the back seat.
Imagine the personal grief I and many black folks felt when they let this man get away with murder. I wondered if my life meant anything at all to some of these people. It should the responsibility of law enforcement to weed out and reprimand the most unworthy in their ranks, but by siding with this man they already proved that self preservation took precedence.

This is why it’s so difficult to get behind the idea of not all cops. Black folks showed tremendous restraint in this obvious display of injustice, and I think it almost inhuman to ask they continue to do so every passing year of their lives.

For Philando Castile, RIP

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
