MOSCAPARTNERS INTRODUCES LINA GHOTMEH AS THE SELECTED AUTHOR FOR 2026

We are thrilled to announce that Lina Ghotmeh will be creating the site-specific installation at Palazzo Litta – her first outdoor project in Italy.

Her work will serve as the scenic and conceptual heart of MoscaPartners Variations, welcoming visitors to the exhibition and engaging in a dialogue with the designers, creatives, and companies we have carefully curated this year.

Born in Beirut in the 1980s, Lina has developed a design approach she calls “Archaeology of the Future,” weaving together memory, landscape, and space, deeply rooted in the cultural and historical layers of her hometown. Educated at the American University of Beirut and the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris – where she also taught – her architecture blends rigor, poetry, and a profound sensitivity to place.

For this edition, Lina interprets the theme Metamorphosis as “an architectural journey in which movement and memory work together to reveal layered identities within a single space.” Drawing from the baroque richness of Palazzo Litta’s courtyard, her pavilion listens to the site’s history, transforming it through subtle shifts and layered experiences.

We are incredibly excited to host Lina in the Cortile d’Onore, creating a space where visitors can connect with the theme of Metamorphosis right from the entrance, setting the stage for the entire exhibition.

WHAT IS METAMORPHOSIS?

Metamorphosis is transformation. It is research taking shape, evolving matter, and technology opening up new scenarios.

Metamorphosis is an exploration of change: a process driven by the development of new materials, technological innovation, and conscious practices such as recycling and upcycling.

Metamorphosis is a transition, towards new forms, new identities, and new languages. An invitation for design to interpret the present and imagine the future.

This year’s edition explored Metamorphosis as a process of change, adaptation and regeneration through design, architecture and material research.

A heartfelt thank you to @linaghotmeh and her incredible team: it has been a true joy to shape and bring Metamorphosis in Motion to life together in the Main Courtyard of Palazzo Litta, transforming the space into a place of encounter, movement and shared moments.

NYCHAIR X AT MOSCAPARTNERS VARIATIONS 2026

Cotton, steel, and wood: pure materials combine to form a simple and elegant folding chair design. Traditional cotton mills and state-of-the-art factories work together to create a highly functional and beautiful Japanese masterpiece—Nychair X.
Deconstructing the chair draws attention to its simplicity, where every part is proof of careful attention to detail and craftsmanship. It highlights the lightweight nature of the chair, which can be easily folded and moved across places and through time.

Rare Heart is born from geological time and the depths of matter. At the heart of Monte Rosa, rock and clay merge, forming strata, veins and mineral glints. From this emerges the shared research of Danilo Ramazzotti Italianhousefloor and NovaBell Ceramiche, where handcrafted terracotta and porcelain stoneware shape a holistic vision of contemporary living. The result: surfaces that do not imitate nature, but reinterpret its energy as architectural experience.

SURFBENCH AT MOSCAPARTNERS VARIATIONS 2026

The SurfBench transforms seating into an interactive experience. By moving the bench, users create gentle wave motions that mimic the behavior of water, inviting curiosity and playful interaction between strangers. The mechanism works smoothly without motors or electricity. Designed for both comfort and engagement, the bench can be implemented in a wide range of settings, from lobbies and waiting areas to cultural and residential spaces, bringing a playful and memorable element to any environment.
