The story of this record begins in 2009. An artist from Denver, Colorado named Catch Lungs and his manager reached out with interest to some of my instrumental joints. At this time, I was posting a lot of music online, and I didn’t have a real fear of my beats being taken and/or stolen without my permission. Dropping back to back instrumental tapes, one that was for sale and another one that was free of charge, was a good way to get artistic support and at the same time mask the second tape as a tape, but it really being a new way to sell beats imo. The strategy worked because I was able to sell quite a few joints from the project and make a little name for myself as a producer. I had already been known as a solid MC, but I was still getting my feet wet production wise.

Catch went on to buy three beats off of the project. This one in particular that he used is titled “Swerve”. He called me and said this was the one he was feeling the most to have a couple of really big features at the time. At that point, I was very curious because I didn’t have too many features on my music. Once he let me know who the artists were I was shocked and grateful in the same instance. Guilty Simpson and Elzhi! It felt like a dream come true at that moment because these were artists that I had listened to for years that were produced by some of my favorite producers and now I was being blessed with verses from each one of them, so it made me reflect, like I was worthy in a sense to be producing for these level of artist. I was still working on my confidence as a producer more so due to my consistency as a producer at the time, so this really was a huge moment for my confidence and momentum.

I realize that a lot of you do not have a real track history of my music timeline and Los Angeles hip-hop culture so from this point forward, I will be using my Instagram daily to be giving stories about songs moments or things that I’ve happened in my history while being a part of the culture here. It will give you some reference to some of the things that I’ve been a part of in the city and it’ll also give you a more detailed background of my actual music history as well.
