The BBVA renovation project on Paseo Montejo reinserts the building into the portico typology, endowing it with a participatory character as both a space and a threshold that mediates between the public and the private; between light and shadow. Its formal expression reveals the construction processes and allows for an ornamental layer that reinterprets the styles of the avenue’s neoclassical houses in a contemporary language.

El proyecto de renovación de BBVA en Paseo Montejo reinserta el inmueble en la tipología del pórtico, dotándolo de un carácter participativo como espacio y umbral mediador entre lo público y lo privado; entre la luz y la sombra. Su expresión formal da cuenta de los procesos constructivos y permite un ornamento que reinterpreta los estilos de las casas neoclásicas de la avenida en un lenguaje contemporáneo.

Through in-between spaces, thresholds, and porticoes, the project fragments light and turns it into matter. The circulation is not linear but sequential: each step recalibrates perception, each filter redefines the relationship between interior and exterior. The volume is not constructed by walls, but by gradients of shadow. Construction process.

The brand’s universe of collections is arranged around the "Corazón" TANE, a central element and symbol of the journey of silver, from its origin in stone to its radiance in light. The iconic red is nuanced through gradients that convey sophistication and elegance. The tectonics and details express craftsmanship and a contemporary spirit.

We recently finished the total refurbishment project for BBVA's flagship in downtown Merida, becoming the first contemporary intervention of this scale in over 3 decades on Paseo Montejo, the city's most iconic avenue. The new facade reinserts the building into the porticoe typology, participating of the public exterior spaces while also becoming a threshold into the building. The language takes from the surrounding houses to reinterpret surface, edging and the enacting of change with light.

Recientemente concluimos la renovación total del proyecto del Flagship de BBVA en el Centro de Mérida, convirtiéndose en la primera intervención contemporánea de esta escala sobre Paseo Montejo, la avenida más icónica de la ciudad. La nueva fachada reinserta al edificio en la tipología de los pórticos, haciéndose participe del espacio público y confirmando un umbral de acceso al edifico. El lenguaje estudió los estilos de las casas antiguas para reinterpretar superficie, bordes y la activación de la fachada por medio de la luz.
