When breeding cann*bis for aroma, breeders rely heavily on their sense of smell to detect what analytical labs often miss.

Cann*bis aroma is a complex blend of terpenes and flavor compounds, but until recently, little was known about how these aromatic compounds are inherited from parent to daughter plants.

New research by @AbstraxTech and @710Labs reveals that while terpene profiles remain relatively consistent among offspring, the flavor profiles can vary significantly.

This means daughter plants from the same cross might smell vastly different, even if they appear identical on a COA.

Moreover, some flavorant compounds can be so strong that they dominate the plant’s aroma, potentially overshadowing other scents responsible for unique aromas like cheese. These dominant flavors could become a focus for breeders in future chemical hunting, or chemohunting, alongside traditional phenohunting.

Can Linalool and b-Myrcene impact mood impressions in collaboration with CBD?

New research reveals sex-specific responses in a preclinical inhalation study. Anxiety is one of the most commonly cited reasons consumers turn to c*nn*bis products, yet much of the industry’s terpene and c*nn*binoid positioning still relies on tradition and word of mouth rather than controlled inhalation data. Even recent meta-analyses draw conclusions from a limited and heterogeneous pool of studies, underscoring how difficult it is to extract clear, decision-ready insights from inconsistent data. 

So we teamed up with our friends at @westernwashingtonuniversity to get some answers.
