The Yunxi Botanical Garden is a cornerstone initiative advancing China’s national strategies for biodiversity, conservation and sustainable development in Guangzhou. Spanning 35 hectares at the western foot of Baiyun Mountain, the garden seamlessly integrates plant conservation, scientific research, public education, and immersive visitor experiences.
We’re proud to have collaborated with local partners to deliver a comprehensive landscape design for Yunxi Botanical Garden’s environmental enhancement. After three years of dedicated work, the garden now features a natural education center, five specialized botanical display gardens, and three ecological leisure trails. It stands as a striking green oasis, embraced by residents and visitors as a premier urban retreat.

Watch the build of 2025 Serpentine Pavilion, ‘A Capsule in Time’ by @marinatabassum – from laying the foundation to the final touches.
We design projects that enhance lives and strengthen the communities we serve. The newly completed Schuylkill Banks: Christian to Crescent Cable Stayed Bridge opens up new possibilities for people in South and Southwest Philadelphia. For the first time, residents can travel directly to the jobs, schools, restaurants, and cultural destinations in Center City, without needing a car. By making walking and biking easier and safer, the bridge helps reduce traffic and emissions, supports local businesses, and encourages healthier, more connected communities.
As the first cable-stayed bridge of its kind in Pennsylvania and one of the only cable-stayed pedestrian bridges in the country, it fills a long-standing gap in the 130-mile Schuylkill River Trail.
See the story and the people behind it in this video.

The @SerpentineUK Pavilion has launched for its 25th year.
Titled ‘A Capsule in Time’, the latest Pavilion was designed by Bangladeshi architect and educator @marinatabassum and her firm, Marina Tabassum Architects (MTA), will open to the public on the 6 June.
We’re proud to have provided multidisciplinary engineering, project management and technical advisory services for the Pavilion, collaborating with the architect, Serpentine and specialist contractor Stage One to realise the distinct design vision.
Our engineers worked closely with MTA to deliver a slender, lightweight and modular timber canopy structure with simple translucent cladding. All elements of the main Pavilion have been manufactured off-site and assembled in Kensington Gardens, London.
Jon Leach, director at AECOM, said: “It was a joy to bring the vision for this year’s Pavilion to life, working closely with Marina and her team, Serpentine and Stage One. We’ve delivered a modular design to create a lightweight, versatile space adaptable for different uses and events, and have substantially reduced the embodied carbon of the structure through the re-purposing of transportable foundations from a previous pavilion, emphasizing our commitment to making the pavilions as demountable and reusable as possible.
“Each year, the Pavilion offers our engineers a platform to gain invaluable experience. It is great to see the team thrive during the delivery of this unique project.”

The Philadelphia Schuylkill River Trail extension — from Christian Street to Grays Ferry Crescent — recently opened to the public, enhancing nonmotorized mobility and connectivity across the city. We were awarded the design contract in 2016 and have been involved in the project from the initial feasibility study through to final design and construction.
The $48 million project is a huge milestone for Philadelphia’s pedestrian and cycling infrastructure and will help to reduce vehicle emissions and traffic congestion while increasing public safety and revenue for local businesses.
We are proud to continually build resilient, sustainable infrastructure that serves as indispensable community assets for generations to come. This transformative new bridge and trail is no exception.

This Earth Day, we reaffirm our commitment to shaping a more sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.
Sustainability is not a standalone initiative — it’s a foundational principle that guides how we plan, design, and deliver across every project, in every region. From restoring coastlines and expanding access to clean water, to advancing renewable energy and low-carbon transportation, our work is driving meaningful, measurable impact at scale.
“Through our Sustainable Legacies strategy, we are leading transformational change by addressing the world’s most pressing environmental and social challenges. Guided by our commitment to delivering a better world, we are realizing solutions that serve both people and the planet, enhancing quality of life, protecting vital resources, and embedding climate resilience across the built environment,” shares Kristin Tremain Davis, our Vice President of Resilience and Sustainability.
We invite you to join us in building a cleaner, more sustainable world. Together, we can leave lasting positive impacts for generations to come.

@Serpentineuk and the LEGO Group have just announced the Play Pavilion, a new vibrant, interactive play commission situated alongside the Serpentine South gallery in London’s Kensington Gardens.
The public art project is designed by British architect @sirpetercook and will showcase the power of play, with an unveiling on World Play Day on 11th June.
We are supporting the Play Pavilion as technical advisor and project manager.
Created using LEGO bricks as a core building material, the Play Pavilion will be an immersive environment where visitors can explore the creative power of play in three dimensions.
“We’re excited to work with Serpentine, the LEGO Group, Sir Peter Cook and Stage One to help bring the Play Pavilion to life,” said AECOM Engineer James Wright.
“Incorporating LEGO bricks into the design presents an interesting engineering challenge for our team, making this project truly unique. We can’t wait to see children and families enjoying the space this summer!”

Network Rail Property has submitted plans to redevelop London Liverpool Street station in the UK, enabling it to serve over 200 million passengers a year, boost London’s economy, and establish a landmark gateway to the City of London.
As Britain’s busiest station, currently connecting 118 million people annually, the station’s passenger numbers are forecasted to grow to 158 million by 2041. The redevelopment will ensure the station is future-proofed whilst enhancing accessibility for all. The plans will turn Liverpool Street station into a destination, improving connections to the wider city and public spaces, and supporting the City of London’s long-term economic growth.
“The transformation of Liverpool Street Station represents a pivotal moment in upgrading Britain’s busiest train station to meet future passenger demands, while honoring its rich history,” said Joanna Streeten, managing director for our Buildings + Places business in Europe and India. “As well as creating a more spacious, accessible concourse and improving visitor experience through reimagined entrances, the regeneration plans aim to transform the station into a vibrant destination – complete with new retail, leisure and workspaces. Our team of engineers will work closely with Network Rail to ensure the project delivers on its ambitions and meets the needs of future passengers for years to come.”
We’re thrilled to be part of this transformative journey. AECOM, in collaboration with @acmespace, is providing multi-disciplinary engineering services, sustainability expertise, transportation, and environmental impact assessment. Leveraging our global experience in developing world-class transport hubs, we’re working closely with Network Rail to deliver designs that honor the station’s heritage and enhance passenger connectivity.
